The Magicians

A promising start but not for everybody. This is a show for fantasy lovers, science-y people who don't mind bending the laws of physics for some good fun. Since I have to wait until January for episode 2, I decided to read the book and I already know that the original characters are a little younger than on the TV show. I, for one, am digging the more mature version of a magic world. I'll keep watching should the book turns out to be good.

I just finished and I am going through so many feelings. As a docuseries it is amazing work. The use of footage is really good. The story itself is heartbreaking. I am so disappointed in the justice system and the lack of proper oversight. This is so messed up. I started watching not 100% sure about their innocence but now I am pretty sure these guys were targeted. I am sad that two people are rotting in jail for a crime they didn't commit but I am more worried about the fact that there is a murderer on the loose.

I am going to miss this series. I loved the show from the start - episode three of season one really solidifying my decision. I love period shows that teaches some history while also being highly entertaining. I am going to miss Mrs. Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham (played by Maggie Smith) the most. Her personality and witty remarks never failed.

One of my favorite quotes: "Stop whining and find something to do."

The first time I tried watching this show it didn't stick but I gave it a second chance and now that I've finished it, I'm not sure I should have. A bit too sappy for my taste and not happy about Duke (trying not to spoil it here). That final season seemed rushed. Too many things got too complicated and then resolved too easily. Writers can do better. Glad it's over.

Trevor is finally finding his own voice and I admit it's taken me a while to accept that Stewart is gone. The 24-hour news machine leaves a lot out. I rather get the scoop from The Daily Show and then the rest from online reputable sources. It's really coming together and I can only see it getting better from here on out.

This is one of my favorite shows and I believe the only sitcom I'm watching at the moment. I love the characters. I find them funny and multidimensional. I've seen them grow with every season which is one way I evaluate a show (characters that are always the same are pretty boring). I don't find it stereotypical in an insulting way but endearing and relatable. In my experience, the people who hate on the show simply don't get it and that's OK but I'll keep watching.
