Scott McCaughey has an impressive rock resume: He’s the leader of both The Young Fresh Fellows and The Minus 5, and was also a long-running sideman and contributor to R.E.M. (If you saw that band in the second half of its long career, you almost certainly saw McCaughey playing something.) He leads a rotating cast of players in The Minus 5 (which sometimes includes R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and occasionally Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy), and his latest album with this project is Dungeon Golds. Here, The Minus 5 rips and roars through The Runaways’ 1976 classic “Cherry Bomb.” Yes, this is the second Undercover this week—in order to get done by Thanksgiving, we’re doubling up a couple of weeks, so hold on to your hats.
