Co-written by Bill Hader and Silicon Valley executive producer Alec Berg, Barry centers on an ex-Marine (Hader) who works as a low-rent hitman in the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he begrudgingly travels to Los Angeles to kill someone and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the LA theater scene.
I'm late to this party but I'm so happy that I am here. I've had this on my watchlist for a while and I have just finished the two seasons in one week because it was so great. This show is an unpredictable thrilling, dramatic dark comedy with so much suspense and comedy packed into a half hour. I was thoroughly impressed to find that Bill Hader not only stars in this, but he created it, writes, directs and produces it as well. There are several other talented writers and directors and a couple of episodes were so different that I had to check the credits to see (and follow) the work of some of the other directors. The series starts mostly with humour and as each season progresses we see more of the drama and suspense interwoven. I highly recommend this show.
