'Bones' spin-off? Geoff Stults makes 'The Finder' a keeper

The "Mod Squad" crack comes early during the "Finder" episode of "Bones" -- a backdoor pilot from creator Hart Hanson based on Richard Greener's "Locator" series of books. And the comparison is appropriate for reasons beyond the superficial paring of genders and races in the primary trio of Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), Leo Knox (Michael Clarke Duncan) and Ike Latulippe (Saffron Burrows). These characters seem to be equally unlikely crime-solvers as their "Squad" predecessors. This rag-tag vibe is a far cry from the finely tuned Jeffersonian crew on "Bones." But "Bones" is where this story happens to start. Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) find themselves looking over a decomposing body in the Florida Everglades in a quintessential "Bones" opening. Upon learning (via serial number on a glass eye) that the body belongs to a museum security guard who swiped a treasure map immediately before his demise, Booth decides they'll have to find the... //

True Blood's Kevin Alejandro Goes Bowling with Bones

During a week off from shooting HBO's True Blood , Kevin Alejandro (Lafayette's witchy beau Jesus Velasquez) did a little moonlighting with another adored TV bloodsucker. Earlier this week, David Boreanaz — still remembered for his role as WB vampire Angel — welcomed Kevin to a Tarzana bowling alley to shoot the season finale of Fox's Bones . "I play a guy named Hercules Maldanado, a.k.a. The Tornado," reveals Kevin. "He's a flashy, arrogant man obsessed with bowling, but his skills don't match up. He's sort of his team's dead weight." //

'Bones': Preview clips from 'Finder,' plus a 'curtailed' Season 7?

At the end of this post, you can watch two clips from Thursday's (April 21) "Bones," which sets up the possible spinoff "The Finder."What you won't see in those clips, however, is The Finder himself, Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults). You'll hear Booth (David Boreanaz) telling Brennan (Emily Deschanel) about Walter's "finder power" -- no, really -- but you'll apparently have to tune in to see that power in action. That's in the second video; the first explains, via the usual "Bones" grossness, why Brennan and Booth are in South Florida: There's a dead, de-fleshed body in the Everglades, which is federal land.Meanwhile, "Bones" creator Hart Hanson's says Deschanel's pregnancy could lead to a shorter-than-usual seventh season. (The series has yet to be officially renewed for 2011-12, but Hanson says he's "very confident" that will happen.)"Season 7 would probably be a curtailed season in some respects; we don't know how much yet," he tells TVLine.Because the... //
