Carnivale, is an award-winning American television series and period drama set in the United States during the Great Depression. In tracing the lives of two disparate groups of people, its overarching story depicts the battle between good and evil and the struggle between free will and destiny; the storyline mixes Christian theology with gnosticism and Masonic lore, particularly that of the Knights Templar. The show was filmed in Santa Clarita, California and other Southern Californian locations.
One of the best shows ever aired in my opinion. The actors, costumes, and sets really bring the despair and desperation of 1930's America to life, and the supernatural elements are woven into that historical backdrop seamlessly, which makes them all the more disturbing. It's such a shame that this show was cancelled after only two seasons, but it's still absolutely worth watching.
Interesting story, well acted, decent sets but was a little confusing at times. They could have done a better job with this show; it could have went much further. This show is mysterious with twists of reality taking you to the boundaries of the mind. I would recommend this show to the drama fantasy fanatic.
Fantastic show....Just don't get too into it. The 2nd season ends with a giant cliffhanger and none of the major plot arcs are ever resolved. I would give the show a 4.5 if not for the complete failure of an ending.
