'Community' first look: Ooh, child, Shirley goes into labor

Ooh, child, is right. We already know NBC's "Community" is taking Shirley's pregnancy to its joyful or bitter (depending on who the father is) end. Shirley will be going into labor in the April 28 episode titled, "Applied Anthropology."And Zap2it has the exclusive first look at Shirley (played by Yvette Nicole Brown) going into labor above. That may be the last thing the crew needs that week as the school year winds down and their anthropology final looms. Shirley notices a slight pain, which quickly escalates into full-blown labor. Of course, the crew waste precious time arguing about how best to help and everyone is anxious to find out who the baby daddy is.When we were on the "Community" set, we had a chance to grill Brown on her character's impending labor pains and what it was like to play preggers. What can we expect for the big conclusion to Shirley's pregnancy? We won't find out until she gives... //

TV ratings: 'American Idol' results up, lead Thursday by a lot

Fast National ratings for Thursday, March 24, 2011The wild and wacky "American Idol" results show Thursday was up a good amount from last week, carrying FOX to an easy ratings win for the night. Coverage of the NCAA tournament was also up significantly over last year -- but because it was split between CBS and TBS, the Eye's numbers were down compared to the 2010 Sweet 16 round. Thanks to "Idol," FOX led Thursday by a wide margin, averaging 14.8 million viewers and an 8.6 rating/14 share in households. ABC (8.5 million, 5.4/9) came in second. CBS' 7.15 million viewers and 4.6/8 took third (those numbers may change some because of its live NCAA coverage). NBC (4.7 million, 2.9/5) was up some with a new episode of "The Office." The CW trailed with 1.4 million viewers and a 0.9/1.FOX also scored the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 4.4 rating. ABC finished second in the... //

Will 'Community' Go Back ... to the Future? Star Donald Glover Hopes So (VIDEO)

When you're starring in a hit TV show that loves to spoof pop culture, regularly employs unbelievable storylines and literally has no rules, the idea of a "dream episode" could certainly become a reality. I'm hoping that's the case with Donald Glover's ultimate 'Community' episode. Imagine Chevy Chase as a crazy old doctor, obsessed with time travel; Alison Brie as a hot teen of the 1980s, complete with faded denim jacket; and Joel McHale as a beefed-up bully in the 1950s. Then let your jaws drop as Donald Glover zooms by on his hoverboard, collar popped, jamming to some Huey Lewis. Yes, I'm asking you to imagine a time, with or without the help of a DeLorean, when we might be lucky enough to see a 'Back to the Future' episode of 'Community.' //

'Community's' Yvette Nicole Brown on playing Samuel L. Jackson filtered through Shirley

The big "Pulp Fiction" episode of "Community" airs this Thursday (March 24) on NBC. In the episode, Jeff (Joel McHale) throws Abed (Danny Pudi) a surprise "Pulp Fiction-themed" birthday party, but things don't go as planned. When we caught up with star Yvette Nicole Brown at PaleyFest, she told us that putting on her costume was an eye-opening experience."My character is Samuel L. Jackson - with the mutton chops, and the suits, and the bad attitude," Brown tells Zap2it. "So, that's going to be a lot of fun. And I saw the picture of him as me and I swear it looked like my dad. I've never thought I looked like my dad in my life, but I looked in the mirror, that's my dad."As if looking like her father wasn't striking enough, we asked her if she felt the essence of the tough-talking Jackson once she was in costume."I do. Samuel L. Jackson is the... //

'Lost's' Josh Holloway talks 'Community,' and taking a break from TV

In the home stretch for Season 2, "Community" caused quite a stir when news that "Lost" star, Josh Holloway (SAWYER!) is appearing in the two-part finale airing back-to-back for one hour on May 12.He plays a mysterious stranger who appears at Greendale and takes part in the reprisal of Season 1's popular paintball episode, which is also an homage to the "Spaghetti Western" made famous in the 60s by Italian director, Sergio Leone."It's a fun role," Holloway says in an interview with TV Guide. "I loved those guys. I had a really good time and they were so awesome. I'd worked with Chevy [Chase] before on a movie so I was honored to get to work with him again, and the rest of the cast."And according to Gillian Jacobs, who plays Britta, they enjoyed him right back. Josh Holloway Talks Community

As the sarcastic and strapping Sawyer on Lost there were few things that rattled Josh Holloway. Taking on polar bears, the Others, and those creepy folks from the Dharma Initiative — no sweat! But when it comes to things that intimidate the actor in real life, the smoke monster doesn't hold a candle to the cast of NBC's Community . //

'Community' creator Dan Harmon would like to thank the 'shippers

While "Community's" night at PaleyFest occurred before Thursday's (March 17) news that NBC has given it a third season renewal, we're sure it doesn't change who creator Dan Harmon credits for the show's success: A dedicated group of people who adopted the show and its characters very early on and feel very passionate about their couplings."It was the first 'shippers," Harmon tells Zap2it. "It was like these young girls that you see live journaling and stuff, the core of the core of the core, like people who are willing before anybody else is to go, 'I love your show, I love that character, I love that character with that character.' And I always thought that in our darkest hours no matter what competition was heaped upon us that we have this globule of an audience that will not watch anything else if we're on. And it's really important to stay thankful to those people."Harmon... //
