'Dollhouse' Benched in November - Featured

Fresh from the oven news, " Dollhouse " may disappear from the screen next month. In its exclusive report, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly said that sources are confirming the benching of the Joss Whedon-created show in November. The series starring Eliza Dushku will be back for December sweeps and Fox will air back-to-back episodes on Friday nights. This looks like a move made only to allow the show to complete the 13-episode order. There is no word yet on what FOX will air in November in replacement of the show. Since its debut in midseason, "Dollhouse" has not been exactly stellar in rating. However, FOX chose it over " Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles " to get a second season. Just this week, Joss Whedon talked about "Dollhouse" number when he was announced as a guest director of " Glee ". He wrote, "No, this doesn't mean Dollhouse definitely won't get a back nine. Our numbers mean that! But I kid. Okay, we're not exactly saving all the good stuff for 14-22, but nobody's closed the door." Update: Futon Critic has obtained the confirmation that FOX will scrap all the Fridays line-up after the October 23 episode. Instead, a re-run of "House M.D." two-hour season premiere will sub in on October 30 with additional repeats of " House " and " Bones " taking over for the rest of the month. "Dollhouse" will only return on December 4, 11, and 18 with back-to-back originals. Source Here

Good News for Dollhouse - Fox will air all 13 Episodes

Due to the rise in overall ratings thanks to the DVR audience, Fox has promised to run all 13 produced episodes of Dollhouse 's second season. As for a third season, it doesn't seem likely considering the low ratings so far this season but FOX says they will reserve judgement until after this run. Joss Whedon promises to provide Dollhouse fans with a degree of closure in the season finale. source

Dollhouse and Smallville Ratings Surge Thanks to DVR

It's not all bad news for Dollhouse : The Joss Whedon sci-fi drama is among the shows that are most-watched on DVRs. Dollhouse and Smallville tied for the largest gain in viewers, with each obtaining 50 percent more viewers in the seven days following their initial airings. Both shows also saw a jump in their ratings this past Friday. Dollhouse pulled in 2.25 million viewers, improving on the previous week by a quarter million viewers. Smallville added an additional 100,000 viewers to bring its total to 2.3 million viewers. 90210 , Fringe and Melrose Place (2009) round out the top five shows with the greatest DVR audience boosts. 90210 earned a 40 percent increase, while Fringe and Melrose saw 39 percent and 38 percent bumps, respectively. On the opposite side of the spectrum, audiences for NBC's The Jay Leno Show and CBS' Cold Case only grew five percent through DVR viewers. Dollhouse lead-in, Brothers, was at the bottom of the pile, showing no increase at all. Source Here

FOX Commits to Air All 13 Dollhouse Episodes - Featured

Fresh off of the news that this past Friday's episode of Dollhouse was up a quarter million viewers and the report that with DVR numbers, the premiere was up 50%, FOX has announced that they intend to air all 13 episodes of the second season of the show. Don't start thinking that FOX is going to be ordering any more episodes after this (adding 50% to 2 million is still uh, just a paltry 3 million viewers) - though they say they have yet to decide anything, but it's nice to know that they won't be screwing over the fans this time around (10th time's a charm?). Says FOX: "We're going to run all the episodes. We're not saying we're happy with those numbers, or accept them, but we don't have to overreact. During [November] sweeps we might have to jack up the numbers a little [with other programming], but we plan on completing the order for this show." Also: ""If you cancel it, you're an asshole; if you renew it and then don't put it back on, you're an asshole," he said. "I'm still paying for 'Terminator.' 'Dollhouse' has a small rabid fan base that in the world of social media seems bigger than it is. We gave them another season knowing full well we were going to burn in hell if we pulled it." Since Joss Whedon knows in advance that he will get all 13 episodes, he plans to give closure in this season's 13th episode. Hooray! Source

Weekend Ratings Roundup (aka Weekly Dollhouse Death Watch) - Featured

Since the TV ratings for Friday nights generally don't fluctuate all that much (CBS dramas always win...), the only statistic that I really about is how well (or, more accurately, poorly) Dollhouse performed. So, for some slightly encouraging news, in its 3rd week, Dollhouse was actually slightly - wait for it - UP in the ratings! This week's episode had 2.2 million viewers (up from 2 million last Friday). Eliza Dushku thanks you via Twitter. Another piece of good news: DVR ratings for the first week of the show finally came in and the Dollhouse numbers increased by 50% upon adding on DVR viewers from the 7 days following its live airing. You can check out the rest of Friday night's ratings over at Zap2it . On Sunday, sports dominated the night with NBC's Sunday Night Football winning both the 9 and 10PM timeslots. However, CBS won the night overall with a strong performance from NFL coverage and 60 Minutes at 7, as well as their usual Sunday night lineup, including 13.1 million viewers tuning in for The Amazing Race . The ABC dramas and Fox's animated comedy lineup were both down slightly for the night. Check out all of Sunday's ratings over at Zap2it .

Video Interview: Enver Gjokaj and Dichen Lachman of 'Dollhouse'

Much like their stunning Dollhouse co-stars Tahmoh and Eliza, sitting across from Enver Gjokaj and Dichen Lachman, you wonder if you are in fact sitting across from dolls. Not in the wiped clean, capable of anything you program them to do Dollhouse sense, but in the holy god, real people are not this good looking kind of way. But there they are, seemingly perfect human specimens, as lovely to converse with as they are to look at. At least once you get over the fear of completely butchering their exotically beautiful names. Dichen and Enver spent a few minutes chatting with me about the best and worst use for a Doll, what they'd use a doll for in their real life, what we can expect from their characters and their connection during season 2 of Dollhouse, and much much more. Watch my full interview with Enver and Dichen below. Source & Video
