Review of Downton Abbey

60 minutes

Set in the fictional Downton Abbey, stately home of the Earl of Grantham, early in the reign of King George V, during the two years prior to the Great War and commencing with news of the sinking of the Titanic, an event that triggers much of the storyline. It follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants.

A truly fantastic show, I am sad to see it go. There is a wonderful depth to the characters represented by differences in class and circumstances. You care what happens to them, which can be hard for a show to create. It is also a good representation of what life can bring, the good and bad, regardless of your station in life.
