'Game of Thrones' Casts Role of Brienne, George R.R. Martin Delivers 'Blackwater' Script

All the pieces are falling into place for 'Game of Thrones' Season 2 ... More exciting news for fans as author George R.R. Martin makes two big announcements. The fan favorite role of Brienne, Maid of Tarth has been cast. And, he's delivered the first draft of his 'Blackwater' episode to producers. Martin had earlier given fans a teaser as to the identity of the actress in question, writing in his online journal that: "The she-wolf of France has stormed the barbican. The Aussie turned her into a bunny." British actress Gwendoline Christie snagged the coveted role of Brienne after nailing her audition. Martin said "This was another one of those cases where there was hardly any debate. The day the first batch of auditions went up for the role, we looked at a dozen actresses who were reading for Brienne and one actress who WAS Brienne." //www.aoltv.com/2011/07/08/game-of-thrones-casts-role-of-brienne-george-r-r-martin-deli/

'Breaking Dawn,' 'Game of Thrones,' 'Dexter' to Kick Off Comic-Con 2011

Comic-Con 2011 will get off to a rousing start, with vampires, werewolves and sword-swinging warriors dominating the agenda on the first full day of the convention. Following a preview night on Wednesday, July 20, Thursday will be highlighted by a sneak peek of the rabidly anticipated vampire flick "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1," along with a Q&A session with director Bill Condon and cast members. HBO's hit fantasy series "Game of Thrones" will also be well-represented on Thursday, when George R.R. Game of Thrones Casting Pick: Balon Greyjoy

In season one of  Game of Thrones , we met Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), Ned Stark's ward and one of Robb Stark (Richard Madden)'s closest friends. In season two, though we'll be meeting the rest of the Greyjoy family. And Theon's dad Balon? He isn't too pleasant. Balon, despite only sporadic appearances, has a huge presence in the second and third novels, and proves to be quite instrumental in the War of the Five Kings, which we just saw crank up in "Fire and Blood," the season one finale. Balon's got his own plans during the war, though, and they will heavily involve Theon having to make some pretty tough decisions. So who should play Balon? Game of Thrones Book 5 Ships Early, Spoilers Hit the Web!

A shipping error with Amazon Germany has resulted in 180 copies of  A Dance with Dragons  being shipped early, with floods of spoilers hitting the web several days in advance of the book's July 12 release date. It feels like  Harry Potter  all over again, doesn't it? A Dance with Dragons  is the fifth book in the series  A Song of Ice and Fire  by George R.R. Martin -- the source material for the HBO fantasy drama  Game of Thrones . The book, which has been in the making for six years, is highly anticipated by fans of the series who have been waiting for a new volume in the seven-part series since 2005's  A Feast for Crows . Game of Thrones Season 2 Is a Love Story, Say Producers

This article contains minor spoilers for the second season of Game of Thrones. Season two of  Game of Thrones  will have a different aspect to it than the first. In an interview with  Sirius Satellite Radio , executive producer David Benioff shared that the show's return next year would be "the season of the love story." This is an interesting note because  A Clash of Kings , the book from which the second season is adapted, contains no major love stories. Fans have been speculating about who could be the focal point of this romance, with the general consensus being that it will focus on Robb Stark (Richard Madden), who despite not being present for the majority of the second book, has an unseen romance that occurs during the events of the story. Another Version of Game of Thrones Coming in September

We're still about ten months out from seeing any new episodes of  Game of Thrones . That's a very long time, and before long I'm sure we'll all be hungering for a dose of Westeros. I've managed to stay the withdrawals by reading the books (by the way, just finished book three this afternoon and I have to say, season three is going to be the best season of television ever). The books will keep me content until around August, I figure, especially since book five,  A Dance with Dragons , is slated to hit shelves on July 12 (and those books are  looong ). But even if  Dragons  does tide us all over, what happens then? There will be a long period of time where there's nothing new happening in the Game of Thrones  universe, right?  Right ? Wrong. Bantam Books made my day today by announcing that there's going to be a comic book adaptation of the first book of the series,  A Game of Thrones . That'll be the second adaptation the book has received in 2011, after the first season of the HBO show. You read that right; we'll be getting the first issue of the comic book before the year is out -- in fact, the first issue will roll out in only three months, in September. Sporting cover artists Alex Ross and Mike S. Miller and illustrator Tommy Patterson, the comics already look promising. The comics will start hitting in September, and will then be followed by compilation volumes, published by Bantam. Is Christopher Eccleston Joining 'Game of Thrones'?

Now here's one casting rumor to get many a 'Game of Thrones' fan all a-quiver: Christopher Eccleston is said to be eyeing a major role in Season 2. According to Blastr.com, the 'Doctor Who' and 'Elizabeth' star could be in the running to play the late King Robert's younger brother, the oft-mentioned but as yet unseen Lord Stannis Baratheon. The brooding Stannis is, according to Lord Eddard Stark, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne and the Seven Kingdoms. Production on the second season of 'GoT' is slated to get underway in Northern Ireland at the end of July and producers are continuing to cast roles. Last week 'The Tudors' star Natalie Dormer was confirmed as Margaery Tyrell. //www.aoltv.com/2011/06/28/is-christopher-eccleston-joining-game-of-thrones/

Jason Momoa Talks Khal Drogo and Game of Thrones Finale

"Holy s**t," Momoa said when he found out his character on  Game of Thrones , was going to die in the season finale of the freshman series. "F**k, I'm dead!" The hulking Hawaiian actor, also known for playing Ronon Dex on  Stargate: Atlantis , starred as Khal Drogo, a barbaris Dothraki warlord who took on the young Daenerys as his wife. Their relationship, which started out to be one of fear, turned into a deeply loving one as the series progressed. However, tragedy struck when a a witch deliberately failed to heal one of Drogo's combat wounds, eventually putting him in a vegetative state and killing the unborn child of Daenerys and Drogo as well. Unable to bear seeing her "sun and stars" irreparably catatonic, Dany smothered him with a pillow, ending Drogo's unquestioned reign.  Read More... //tvovermind.zap2it.com/cable/hbo/game-of-thrones/jason-momoa-talks-khal-drogo-game-thrones-finale/62381?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+tvovermind%2Ftvnews+%28TVOvermind+Television+News%29

Game of Thrones Spoiler - Just How Big of a Role Will Natalie Dormer Play?

Mild spoilers for  Game of Thrones  are below . A big bit of  Game of Thrones  news broke Thursday: former  Tudors  actress Natalie Dormer had been cast  as the new character Margaery Tyrell for the second season of the hit HBO fantasy drama. But, before you get all excited, I have to tell you that her role in the books isn't that big. Oh, she's around in  A Clash of Kings , the book that season two is adapted from. But she really only has a bit of a background role in the season. She appears as the bride of Renly Baratheon, brother of the late Robert. This will be a particularly interesting role to see in the series, considering that we've already seen that Margaery's brother, Loras "The Knight of Flowers" Tyrell, is in a sexual relationship with the newly self-proclaimed King Renly -- a fact that was never explicitly stated in the books, only hinted at. Top Moments: The Killing Is All Wet, Tom Hanks' Hips Don't Lie, Thrones Breathes Fire

Our top moments of the week: 14. The "Make 'Em Laugh" Award:   So You Think You Can Dance   guest judge   Debbie Reynolds   teaches a whole new generation what it means to be a true entertainer. Even though the Singin' in the Rain   star was stuck behind the judges' table the entire night, she keeps the contestants and viewers entertained by breaking into spontaneous song-and-dance, delivering one-liners like a pro, offering to take a few dancers home with her (such a tease!), and then pulling out an unexpected Woody Woodpecker impersonation. Ha, ha, ha, HA, ha! 13. Worst Anger Management:   Perennial party girl   Paris Hilton   is not used to getting kicked out of any club, so when her ( now ex- )boyfriend   Cy Waits   asks her to leave his party on   The World According to Paris , she doesn't exactly respect his request. First, she tries to flirt his anger away and snuggles in closer to him, but when he asks nearby security to escort her out, she loses her cool and slaps him in the face. "He can suck a d---!" she yells to her friends angrily, as they exit the club. We know Paris is all about being "hot," but for once, it would have paid for her to keep her cool. 12 . Most Ill-Timed Bathroom Break:   Cash Cab   host   Ben Bailey   has a   Christine Lahti moment   on the   Daytime Emmy Awards   when he's late to pick up his Best Game Show Host statuette. "I couldn't get a cab!" he joked, before admitting, "I was backstage urinating, and I heard my name." Now the question is: Did he wash his hands?
