'Hostages' Season 1, episode 12: 'The Cost of Living' and dying

Desperation sets in at a new level for Brian Sanders (Tate Donovan) on Monday's (Dec. 9) episode of "Hostages."Given that he and his family were taken hostage in their own home; he's been bound, beaten up and shot; had his corrupt business practices; and had his affair at the office and tenuous marriage and relationships with his kids exposed, viewers would expect he had reached these depths already.But no, Brian manages to sink lower in this episode. 'Hostages': Watch Brian drop a dime on Duncan to Nina in 'The Cost of Living'

Since stabbing the man holding his family hostage with a needle full of poison didn't work, and all of his other plans failed, Brian Sanders (Tate Donovan) tries a new tact on Monday's (Dec. 9) all-new episode of "Hostages."He calls Nina (Francie Swift) and tells her what her husband is up to, and oh yeah, by the way, she is the daughter of the president of the United States.Brian has his daughter steal one of her friend's cell phones, so that the call won't be tapped. Then he calls Nina who is in a hospital bed, dying of leukemia. TV ratings: 'The Blacklist' ends 2013 on up note, 'CMA Country Christmas' rises

Fast National ratings for Monday, Dec. 2, 2013The last episode of 2013 for "The Blacklist" scored for NBC: Pending updates for an NFL pre-emption in New Orleans, the show delivered its best ratings since its premiere. The final numbers will likely come down a bit, but it should still end the fall on an up note."The Voice" also improved a little on its ratings from last week for NBC. ABC's "CMA Country Christmas" special improved a little on its performance from last year, although "A Charlie Brown Christmas" dropped. CBS' comedy block was up across the board in viewers, while "Almost Human" dipped a little for FOX.NBC averaged 12.35 million viewers and a 7.6 rating/12 share in households for the night, pending NFL updates. 'Hostages' Season 1, Episode 11: 'Off the Record' is on the money

For those who have stuck with "Hostages," Monday's (Dec. 2) episode pays offs. Big time.Giving new meaning to the Stockholm Syndrome, FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle and Dr. Ellen Sanders (Dylan McDermott, Toni Collette) finally share a deep kiss. That's the penultimate scene of this episode.The last scene has the kidnapper kidnapped. Carlisle is hogtied, duct tape slapped over his mouth and tossed in a van.Before we get there, much happens to advance the plot, and five couples are highlighted.Ellen has resigned herself to having the president die on her operating table. With Monday's episode (Nov. 25), "Hostages" is two-thirds of the way through its run.CBS is committed to finishing the series, and since 15 episodes were planned this is the 10th, we're 66.66 percent of the way there. In an unusual move, no one is killed this week. 'Hostages' episode 9: 'Loose Ends' need tying up

The lipstick returns in Monday 's (Nov. 18) episode of "Hostages."Given that lipsticks have fun names, let's call this one Kiss of Death, since that is its purpose. This is the lipstick that cleverly camouflages the poison intended to kill the president during his rescheduled operation. FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott) returns it to Dr. Ellen Sanders (Toni Collette) and orders her to place it in locker 715 on the fourth floor before the hospital goes into lockdown, preparing for the president's operation.Two important characters are killed off in this episode: The president's Chief of Staff Quentin Creasy (Jeremy Bobb) and Secret Service Agent Stan Hoffman (Paul Calderon). By the end of the eighth episode of "Hostages" Monday (Nov. 11), just what constitutes a "good reason" is anybody's guess.Are there good reasons why a colonel, the president's chief of staff and the scorned sister of the first lady want the president dead?
