It was a really good show and had good ratings. It was a surprise when CBS didn't renew it. Ed Asner was the president of the Screen Actors Guild and in that capacity during the 1980s he opposed U.S. policy in Central America, working closely with Medical Aid for El Salvador. Some felt his political activities were controversial and had a direct impact on CBS's decision. And that's a shame.
