'Rizzoli & Isles': In Over Your Head

Rizzoli & Isles, at its core, has always been a family oriented show. From the beginning we have struggled, fought, loved and suffered with the Rizzoli clan and watched as Maura Isles (Sasha Alexan... //

Rizzoli & Isles 4.02 Review: In Over Your Head

Remember the family drama I mentioned last week? Man, oh man is it ever back with a vengeance. When your father is an Irish mobster and your mother spent your entire life thinking you were dead, what happens when that all comes to a head? Add a new boss for Frankie who has a bad blood with Jane and a nice young girl pop up in the serf and you have an intense hour leaving you guessing what might come out next. We start with our homicide detectives fighting for jurisdiction for a body. Why can’t we all just get along!? Of course, Jane gets the body and we find that she died from drowning. Well, duh! She was found in the oceans serf, open and close. The catch, however, is that she hadn’t aspirate sea water but rain water and that is…weird. READ MORE...

Rizzoli & Isles 4.01 Review: We Are Family

Ah, Rizzoli & Isles. One of three TNT shows with the good ol’ ampersand in the name. Coincidence? Maybe, but what Rizzoli & Isles has going for it is…Rizzoli and Isles. These characters, women mind you, take a dreary procedural cop drama that has been done to death and actually makes me tune in every week just to listen to the banter and witty retorts. And the weird family drama. And the "are they or aren’t they" subtext. Pick one. This season four opens with Maura Isles still recovering from donating her kidney "anonymously" to her kid sister related to her by a mother who had Maura at a young age with an Irish Mob Boss. What?! READ MORE...

Rizzoli & Isles Season 4 Review - In Over Your Head

On the latest episode of "Rizzoli & Isles", we got a first-hand look at the perils of going undercover in "In Over Your Head". In fact, we saw one example in the past, one in the present- both connected to a heretofore unmentioned part of Jane’s romantic history, "new" recruit detective Rafael Martinez (Amaury Nolasco, who some of you may know from "Prison Break"), who used to work with her back in the day…amongst other things, much to everyone’s piqued interest. Alas, it was not the happiest of endings for the twosome, who parted ways on nasty terms, due to their informant getting dead, which Jane holds him responsible for- as well as herself. READ MORE...

Rizzoli & Isles Review: The Past Never Leaves

Have you ever watched a show and wanted to yell at the murder victim right before she died? I had that reaction to " In Over Your Head " when Brenda strode up to the dark, scary, hooded man in the parking garage. I know she was a naive college student looking for the big story but that move was unbelievably dumb. It was absolutely no surprise that it ended up getting her killed. Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 4 Review

On the season premiere of "Rizzoli & Isles", we got to meet one screwed-up family in the aptly-titled "We are Family". Or at least one family member who was royally screwed-up in the extreme. That said, the threads of family ran throughout the episode, with Maura’s troubles with her own cropping up here and there and Jane’s mostly positive family developments. Frankie got his promotion to detective, which he’ll start soon- though not soon enough for his tastes, given Jane’s forcing all the busy work on him- and her mom and boss are seeing each other again. Rizzoli & Isles Season Premiere Review: Summer Has Officially Begun

Rizzoli & Isles season 4 returned with "We Are Family" - and the summer has officially begun! One of the best things about Rizzoli & Isles is that the characters really do feel like family and they've only grown closer throughout the four seasons. READ MORE...

Rizzoli & Isles Season 3 Review “No More Drama In My Life”

In recent weeks, I have complained that  Rizzoli & Isles  needs to decide whether it is a comedy or a drama. Last night’s ironically titled season three finale demonstrated that there is no hope of it being an impactful drama, and it should abandon any pretense of trying to convey or elicit emotion from its audience. Its current formula is worthy of 1983, and with the quality of other offerings on cable television , it’s a wonder this show was renewed for a fourth season. It should count its blessings and promise to change before it follows  Leverage  out the door . Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season Finale Review: Another Day at the Office Collapse

" No More Drama In My Life " had nothing but drama for both Jane and Maura and things only look like they'll get more complicated next season. Maura's New Family …if you can call it that. I'm really torn over what to feel about Dr. Hope Martin. I couldn't imagine the emotional turmoil of being told your baby died only to find out decades later that wasn't the case. Knowing you've lost all of that time with your own child must be devasting . Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 3 Review “Over/Under”

There was too much going on in last night’s  Rizzoli & Isles ! The crime  sleuthing duo was tasked with uncovering who fatally stabbed a popular former football player  turned cupcake baker. This meant wading through the scorned women he left in his wake. Frost’s mother, Camille, came to town to tell him that she was planning to remarry. What she hadn’t yet told him was that her new spouse was her longtime "friend," Robin. Rizzoli and her brother suspected that Camille was in a lesbian relationship and did a less than  stellar job trying to hide that fact from Frost. Rizzoli’s mother bonded with Camille over the fallout from divorce. There was an intense rivalry over an inter-department softball game. And, if all that wasn’t enough to make your head spin, Rizzoli’s former flame, Casey came to her apartment and stirred up her heterosexual emotions. Read More... //
