Perfection! They get everything right. Shetland actors (okay, Dougie's from Glasgow) the knitting is by Shetland knitters, the cinematography, whether on the islands or in cities is glorious! Plus, great stories, some really great actors have been brought in and there are wonderful characters for them to play. The hour flies by and there's only a handful of shows that enchant me so much.

This show is amazing. Not only are the characters well developed, the plot line exceptional, and the actors amazing... the scenery is to die for! It's such a beautiful place and they do a great job capturing it in multiple ways. I really hope this continues for quite some time. It's not a wildly dramatic, but definitely realistic crime show.

I didnt know If I would like this show but saw one episode off season 3 and I was hooked so I looked it up & saw there was another 2 season's so I watched them. I think the story lines were good but I didn't like 1 as much as the other 2. I think they get better as the season's go on though.

I binge watched this series this weekend and it's good, BUT (and it's a big but) Scottish accents aren't the easiest to understand. I didn't catch everything and probably missed key plot points. These characters were created by the same author that created the Vera characters and I really like that show. I'd recommend this, but make sure you turn on the subtitles.

As a fan of almost anything involving a mystery, and having taken my hand at even writing a few mystery novels, I watch the first episodes of this series with a novelists eye: watching for the little slip ups suspects make to hint at "whodunit". Needless to say, I was absolutely shocked when the killer was revealed. A truly spectacular series that will honestly keep you guessing right up until the last possible moment.

If you were to swim due west from the top of Shetland, you would make landfall in Greenland. And if you swam east, Scandinavia on the coast of Norway. Which is way further north than Borgen, The Bridge and The Killing. Shetland totally has latitude attitude, every right to have its own brooding dark cop drama – Celtic noir.
