Supernatural Review: Danneel Ackles Debuts Alongside a Surprise Return in “Devil’s Bargain”

Supernatural fans have been awaiting the debut of Danneel (Harris) Ackles, Jensen Ackles’ real life wife, for some time. This week the fans got that and MUCH more. Though D. Ackles’ portrayal of Sister Jo demanded our attention every time she was on screen, it was the surprise return of a thought dead (by everyone but me, of course) character at the end of the episode that really got the fans talking. With a big return and a big addition, it was overall a humongous pre-hiatus week for Supernatural. I briefly discussed last week that it was no shock that Castiel was not able to kill Lucifer, mostly because Lucifer dominated the promos for this week’s episode. I was a little put out by that, but I forgave them, largely because they never tried to assert that it worked, and Cas didn’t seem all that surprised to see Lucifer alive. Lucifer is, however, completely devoid of grace and has to resort to stealing it from angels. That is, until he meets Danneel Ackles’ "Sister Jo", an angel masquerading as a faith healer. Supernatural Recap: The Truth About Sister Jo Plus: [Spoiler] Returns!

Where to begin with Thursdays Supernatural? Between the Sister Jo reveal, the crazy deal-making and the twist ending, so much happened. Lets start with faith healer Sister Jo (guest star Danneel Ackles), who is actually the angel Anael. (Props to Ackles for how well she sidestepped that reveal in our Q&A.) Supernatural Season 13 Episode 13 Review: Devil's Bargain

The tablets and a familiar face returned! On Supernatural Season 13 Episode 13 , everyone was busy looking for Lucifer, and yet the only question I had was, are we finally going to get to the point of the other world? This has probably been one of the slowest moving seasons Supernatural has had. How long have Mary, and now Jack, been in the other world? Yet they still hadn't come up with a solid plan to get them back -- it just makes absolutely no sense.   ...Read More... https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/supernatural-season-13-episode-13-review-devils-bargain/

Supernatural Review: “Various & Sundry Villains” Includes a Rowena Return

Fans of any television show know that when a show inches close to the 300 episode mark, there are bound to be some duds. This episode of Supernatural definitely falls into that category. "Various & Sundry Villains" clearly had multiple purposes within the larger story, which it accomplished with relative ease, like rescuing Castiel and Lucifer from the bowels of hell and bringing Rowena back into the fold. But the way it got there really didn’t land, so the plot with the young witches felt both excessive and unnecessary. First of all, I have very much missed Ruth Connell and I was glad to see Rowena decidedly not dead. With Crowley dead, this creates a much more interesting dynamic between one of the world’s most powerful witches and the brothers Winchester. She was ambivalent at best to learn that her son was a hero, not the primary villain, in the good fight against evil, which was maybe the best part of the episode. What I’m trying to understand is why Rowena took the approach she did to get the page from the book. The Plum sisters wanted to revive their mom, but why else would Rowena get involved with them. She knew that Sam and Dean had the book, and Sam ultimately gave her the page she was seeking. So, was it a trust move? Does she want the brothers Winchester to trust her in the future? Because she probably should’ve just come out with what she wanted from them if that was the case. Did she genuinely want to help the Plum sisters? My guess is no, since she killed them. My problem with the episode in a nutshell is that it largely focused on this story and the return of Rowena. While the love spell story with Dean was pretty funny, there was no reason for the story to exist. READ MORE...

Supernatural Season 13 Episode 12 Review: Various & Sundry Villains

It's nice to see Castiel and Lucifer are still alive. On Supernatural Season 13 Episode 12 , we finally got to see what Castiel and Lucifer were doing. It's been far too long since we have seen these two, but my goodness it was wonderful to have them back. I could seriously watch both Castiel and Lucifer go at it for the entire hour. Listening to them squabble in their respective cells was downright hilarious. I couldn't help but smile right along with Castiel when he called Lucifer out for not being able to overcome his "weakest creation."   ...Read More... https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/supernatural-season-13-episode-12-review-various-and-sundry-vill/

Supernatural Review: Donna Returns As Things “Breakdown”

There are lots of scary things out there. Most of us aren’t normally scared of Werewolves, Vampires and Demons, but these are normal in the world of Supernatural. However, being alone at a sketchy truck stop and facing normal, human creepers and weirdos is something that a lot of people deal with regularly. According to Briana Buckmaster’s tweet, this is only the second time in the show’s history that the big bad of the week was not a monster, and instead a regular human being. In so many ways, this is more terrifying than a monster because, in theory, something like this could really happen. Donna’s niece could be any number of vulnerable people that we love, which is scary, but made for a compelling episode of Supernatural. READ MORE...

Supernatural Season 13 Episode 11 Review: Breakdown

It's great having the guys back. As much as I love Jody, I was thrilled to have Sam and Dean back on Supernatural Season 13 Episode 11 . They certainly got the blood pumping in the first few minutes. I had to make sure I was still watching Supernatural and not an episode of Criminal Minds. While the storyline started out incredibly intense, it took me a moment to really get into it. We knew there was going to be a supernatural element, but it took way to long to get to the main point of the story; though once it got there, it really took off.   ...Read More... https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/01/supernatural-season-13-episode-11-review-breakdown/

Supernatural Review: “Wayward Sisters” Has Strong Spin-Off Potential

Carry on my wayward….sisters. I love the title, but I was hoping for something a little more silly like "Sisterhood of the Traveling Monster Hunters." Kidding, of course. Supernatural fans have long been hoping that they would get some sort of spin-off in such a rich universe, and many fans have been clamoring for this exact story within one. I haven’t been caught up with Supernatural since the beginning of the run 13 years ago, but I’ve still seen every episode, including the previous, extremely messy spin-off attempt. Five years was absolutely worth the wait for Wayward Sisters, which proved that the Supernatural universe was indeed capable of creating an interesting spin-off, and that perhaps the CW should continue listening to the fans about what kind of content to produce. Supernatural Season 13 Episode 10 Review: Wayward Sisters

At least we know if the guys were to ever go away for good, we have an amazing group of hunters who can really kick some ass. On Supernatural Season 13 Episode 10 , the guys are still missing in the land of the unknown, but thankfully badass Jody was quickly on the case -- along with a few familiar faces. Why the heck did it take so long to come up with a pilot surrounding Jody?   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/01/supernatural-season-13-episode-10-review-wayward-sisters/

Supernatural: It's the Wayward Sisters to Sam and Dean's Rescue!

This week's Supernatural finally saw the arrival of the backdoor pilot for Wayward Sisters and if we're going by the blazing opening featuring the pulsing sounds of Halestorm's "I Am The Fire," it's off to a great start. But before Jody ( Kim Rhodes ) and company can hunt demons in Sioux Falls, South   ...Read More... ...   http://www.tvguide.com/news/supernatural-wayward-sisters-recap/?rss=breakingnews
