A excellent portrayal of what it takes to bring truth in reporting the news to air ! When should a a news program report what may or may not be the facts on am incident that occurs , and the responsibility for airing and reporting , what has actually & factually occurred: not just the desire to be the first to broadcast what may or may not be the true stories factual account of the event! Incredible performances by a excellent cast portraying the Newsroom crew! Jeff Daniels at his best but all are just top notch !
Best Drama ever!!!
This fast paced rhythmic drama should only be viewed without interruption, it's like viewing a mini movie, worth savoring every moment.
Unfortunately this is the last season, to bad we have to wait for the last few episodes.
I read a comment recently that sums up the impact this show has, it simply said, "The Newsroom" should be set as a minimum standard to be met, by other programs.
I was introduced to this show by a clip floating around Facebook of Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels) making a speech about how America is no longer the greatest country. I tuned in and was not disappointed. This has got to be one of the most intelligent shows on tv and for the life of me I can not understand why they ended after only three seasons.
The Newsroom is one of those shows that gets you hooked immediately. There are no bad guys. Everybody is flawed but really great at the same time. It beautifully captures the behind-the-camera drama that occurs in a newsroom coupled with a heart melting love story and additional comedy!
This needs to go on a list of SHOWS THAT ENDED TOO SOON. The writing was excellent. Of course it helps that a person who considered himself Conservative can still be sane and not pander to the idea of AMERICAN EXEPTIONALISM and FUNDAMENTALIST religious nonscience. The ethics for our news programs seem to be slipping so far that the best news sources on TV today are on COMEDY CENTRAL, but this was another way to look back into the past and see some not quite current events after history has had a chance to form a more realistic opinion.
I wish there were a real cable news show like this. I'm sad that the series has concluded. The writing and the acting are spot on.
If you haven't seen this show...you HAVE to start from the beginning. It's an amazing experience.
I love Sorkin's writing: his characters are always multidimensional, flawed but often with high standards for themselves and people around them. And certainly smart. The actors are fantastic, and they add tremendously to the script. I don't even know what else to say: simply another great creation from one of the best TV show writes ever!
One of the best Dramas I have seen come out of America Ever. Will (Jeff Daniels) Is a hard line Anchorman. Aside from his many shortfalls he uses his influence for the greater good. That's just ONE of the characters that burst before your eyes full of intrigue and charisma.
A definite must see for anyone who enjoys Witty humour and/or a vague dig at the world we live in.
