Donny Deutsch Defends Bravo's Controversial 'Housewives' Decision on Business Grounds (VIDEO)

Russell Armstrong's suicide last month put the future of 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' in doubt. Armstrong was the estranged husband of 'Housewives' star Taylor Armstrong, and the dissolution of their marriage was originally going to be a central storyline of the new season. Bravo made the decision this week to premiere the series on schedule, re-edit some of that storyline, and include some newly taped interview footage with the Housewives discussing the tragedy. Thursday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), Donny Deutsch defended Bravo's controversial decision to not push back the premiere. "They made the right call for a few reasons," said Deutsch. "Number one, they're a business. And this is going to be good television. I hate to use that word. It's reality TV, it's train wreck TV. Unfortunately, this was a fatal train wreck." //www.aoltv.com/2011/09/01/donny-deutsch-defends-bravos-real-housewives-of-beverly-hills-decision-video/

As friends and family say their final goodbyes to Russell Armstrong today, the future of the show still hangs in the balance as Bravo decides how best to handle the tragedy on the air. Wetpaint Entertainment  talked to Beverly Hills psychiatrist Carole Lieberman to get insight into how the producers and the cast should move forward with their lives — both on and off the air. "The show can’t sweep it under the rug, as that wouldn’t make sense," Dr Lieberman told  Wetpaint  in an exclusive interview.  "There was been talk of editing him out if that works in terms of plotline, but they should certainly use sensitivity whatever they do." Instead of pretending the suicide never happened, Dr Lieberman thinks Bravo should take the opportunity to bring something positive out of the horrific scenario.
