'The Simpsons' trashes Fox News during 25th anniversary special

Leave it up to "The Simpsons" to add a little bite to FOX's 25th anniversary party.The network celebrated a quarter century on the air on Sunday (April 22) with the broadcast of the series' first episode "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire." But that's where the fun kicks in.After the credits roll, show execs added a note saying "Congratulations FOX on 25 years...We still love you." Then in small print at the bottom of the screen it reads, "This doesn't include Fox News."This is hardly the first time the show has gone after Fox News. Previous jabs include "Fox News: Not Racist, But #1 With Racists" and "Fox News: Unsuitable For Viewers Under 75."... //

'The Simpsons': Bryan Cranston to guest as a super spy

If the whole "Breaking Bad" thing doesn't work out for Bryan Cranston, he may have a new career working in cartoons. Just weeks after being featured in a two-part season finale on "Archer," Cranston will star on an upcoming episode of "The Simpsons." TV Line is reporting that Cranston will play a James Bond-type character named Stradivarius Cain. The publication adds that things get wackier when Homer gets a concussion and starts believing he's getting marital advice from the super spy.In addition to "The Simpsons" and "Archer," Cranston has worked on cartoons like "The Cleveland Show," "Robot Chicken" and the upcoming film "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted."The episode titled "The Spy Who Learned Me" will air May 6 at 8 p.m. ET.... //

One of the great mysteries of "The Simpsons" has finally been revealed. After more than 500 episodes, many of which feature hints and teases, show creator Matt Groening has finally announced which Springfield the show takes place in - and it's exactly what you thought.In an interview with Smithsonian magazine, Groening says that the wildly popular animated show takes place in Springfield, OR, a city about 110 miles south of his hometown of Portland."Springfield was named after Springfield, Oregon. The only reason is that when I was a kid, the TV show 'Father Knows Best' took place in the town of Springfield, and I was thrilled because I imagined that it was the town next to Portland, my hometown," Groening says. 'The Simpsons': Jennifer Tilly to guest star? Bet on it

This is a pairing we never thought we'd see. Actress/poker player Jennifer Tilly has signed on to guest in an upcoming episode of "The Simpsons."EW is reporting that Tilly, the ex-wife of show EP Sam Simon, will play herself on the long-running animated comedy. In the episode, Homer doesn't trust the Bank of Springfield, so he deposits Lisa's college fund in an online poker site. Tilly is introduced as part of an instructional poker DVD Lisa watches. What are the chances some of this money will be gambled away?EP Al Jean says, "It was a real pleasure to have the Bride of Chucky on the show. Only three people in the crew were mysteriously killed."Tilly is no stranger to working in cartoons. She's a frequent contributor to "Family Guy" as Bonnie Swanson, and she also played Celia in the movie "Monsters, Inc." The episode featuring Tilly will air early next season.... //

If this isn't the coolest little present for fans of "The Simpsons," then nothing is. Some enterprising young fan of the long-running animated series cobbled together every single episode of the "The Itchy & Scratchy Show" shorts. It's more than 48 minutes of exploding, chopping and general destruction of Scratchy.The segment first began while "The Simpsons" was airing during "The Tracey Ullman Show." It has since gone on to become periodic feature on the series offering episode titles like "100-Yard Gash," "Foster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" and "Reservoir Cats." 'The Simpsons' 'Game of Thrones' opening blows our pop culture minds

Tonight's episode of "The Simpsons" has the best couch opener in the history of the show. Yes, we are huge "Game of Thrones" fans over here, so it's no surprise that we think so. Watch it and we're sure you'll agree.In the intro, all the buildings in Springfield rise like they do in the "Game of Thrones" intro, complete with the theme music. Springfield as Westeros. Actually, we'd love to see an entire show with that theme. Although Bart and Lisa as Jaime and Cersei ... maybe not.Check out the intro below and let us know what you think.
