Mekhi Phifer Previews 'Torchwood: Miracle Day' (VIDEO)

'Torchwood' fans, rejoice. We're less than two weeks away from the stateside debut of 'Torchwood: Miracle Day,' which premieres on Starz July 8. John Barrowman and Eve Myles are slated to return as Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper, joined by 'Torchwood' newcomers Bill Pullman, Lauren Ambrose, and Mekhi Phifer. Tuesday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), Phifer shared a clip from the 'Doctor Who' spin-off and also divulged a few details of the plot. In the clip, Phifer's character is shown getting impaled through the chest with a rod that flies off the back of a truck ahead of him. But, as he explained, he doesn't die. "Basically there's this phenomenon that happens throughout the world where no one is dying," he said. "I play a C.I.A. agent named Rex Matheson, and so I make it my mission to try to get to the bottom of what this phenomenon is and who's behind it. Is it aliens? 'Torchwood: Miracle Day': Starz Announces New Interactive Motion Comic

Torchwood: Miracle Day  stars  John Barrowman ,  Eliza Dushku  and  Eve Myles  are lending their voices to their characters on a newly announced interactive app that will be a companion piece to the series. BBC Worldwide and Starz announced Tuesday that the motion comic titled,  Torchwood: Web of Lies , will feature interactive game play elements, and clues to the series premiering on Starz on July 8. Torchwood: Web of Lies  takes place in the past -- on a day in the lives of Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper that they’ve both forgotten. The consequences of that day will drive a present day conspiracy-laced treasure hunt as Holly Mokri (voiced by  Eliza Dushku ) tries to uncover the secrets of Miracle Day. Each week will present a new episode and game, which ties into the broadcast show, but has its own twists and turns. 'Torchwood' reveals details of Eliza Dushku digital companion, 'Web of Lies'

As "Torchwood: Miracle Day" writer Jane Espenson teased, her frequent collaborator Eliza Dushku will headline the upcoming digital companion to the Starz series. "Torchwood: Web of Lies," a 10-part motion comic, will explore a side story to the events of "Miracle Day." Dushku voices the lead character, Holly Mokri, joining series stars John Barrowman and Eve Myles who are also on board for the project. But "Web of Lies" isn't just a motion comic. Sold through an app, the narrative also features interactive game-play. ITunes will have the first installment for free, before the premiere, after which the remaining episodes will be available at three-for-$0.99 or $2.99 for the complete package.
