Uta No Prince-Sama 2 Episode #03 Anime Review

As the series moved along, we got a touch more before about the whole Master Course that Haruka is on and the expectations of the principal with what he wants out of everyone when it comes to Starish. We also got to have a good deal of time with Cecil as he stepped out of Haruka’s dreams a bit and everyone got to see just how quickly he’s gotten to know her and the kind of progress he made with her, something that really got under their skins for those that are into her in different ways. His up front and straightforward approach to talking with her and dealing with her threw them off, since most of them spent a whole season and couldn’t even get as close to saying the same things as he did in the space of one episode. Uta No Prince-Sama 2 Episode #02 Anime Review

With the first episode of the season largely being about the short re-introductions of the main cast as Haruka is back to take pat in the Master course, I’ll admit some guilt on my part. In a couple of ways at that. This is not a show that I can really find to be hugely engaging because it does the harem thing but in a way that doesn’t make me really connect with the characters since Haruka is just so lifeless so much of the time. But there’s a part of me that really loves the visual style of it, the music and the energy that’s present in it when it really comes to life. And it has a fantastic opening sequence that works wonders for me in really selling the show, which helps set the mood each week. But there’s just that hollow nature to the series that keeps it from achieving something significant for me. Uta No Prince-Sama 2 Episode #01 Anime Review

Having watched the first season of the series back when the whole Nico Nico experiment went down, I was certainly intrigued by the show for its production values alone. When a show wants to work the fanservice angle, it knows how to do so in a big way. Giving us a series about high school characters in a special academy designed around the arts, and having them go all the way when it comes to working their abilities and talents like this one did, you can have some pretty top notch animation and styling. But you can also end up with a show where it’s hard to really get into the characters because it’s just so filled to the gills with them and nobody gets a chance to really shine in a big way, especially the lead. Which is what hampered the first season. Read More... //www.fandompost.com/2013/04/03/uta-no-prince-sama-2-episode-01-anime-review/

Uta No Prince Sama Episode #13 Anime Review

With the end of Uta no Prince Sama, the series has worked through a fairly standard run of material as it introduced us to Haruka and all the other students, set up the kind of goofily outrageous music school that it is and then set about to make us connect with each of the guys in her life that found something special about her. It focused more on Ichinose overall because of the specialness of his story and that added to the drama of the last episode with everyone discovering his dual identity secret while coping with a sense of betrayal and anger over it. Haruka came across well though as she tried to show them why it shouldn’t be held against him so hard and I thought there was even a lesson for all of them in there about how difficult it can be even when you’re successful. Uta No Prince-Sama Episode #12 Anime Review

With the way the previous episode unfolded in giving time to Hayato/Ichinose to deal with the company president and all that’s going on there, the gang has to come to grips with the revelations about it as Haruka has made things clear. There’s certainly a lot of confusion amongst them and even a sense of betrayal in a way since he had already debuted and was still going through the academy and could have won the spot and fame once again when he already had it. In fact, there’s some additional anger going on here since they learn that Haruka already knew about all of this and are upset that she didn’t tell anyone. Thankfully, they are asked to consider her feelings about things since it’s not exactly something she could easily reveal. Uta No Prince-Sama Episode #11 Anime Review

After the full on performance for the headmaster by all of those that wanted to partner with Haruka, they’ve managed to get the time they need to really sell it and that means a whole lot of practice and work. But they’re running into a big problem right from the start that’s significant. With Ichinose being a part of it, but also keeping up his whole dual identity thing, he’s drawn away from the school a lot and ends up missing practices which causes the whole thing to be difficult to deal with. And even when he does show, though he puts in his all, it’s not enough since he’s worn from all the Hayato work that he has to do. And Haruka is caught up in the middle of it since she’s the only one that knows what’s really going on. Read More... //www.fandompost.com/2011/09/10/uta-no-prince-sama-episode-11-anime-review/

Uta No Prince Sama Episode #10 Anime Review

With the previous episode setting up things for the graduation audition and having several people approach her to varying degrees about partnering with her, Haruka is in a very difficult position of figuring out how to make everyone happy. She’s not really thinking of herself in a way because, as she puts it early on here, she’s only here at this point because of each of them. So she has to make sure that she acknowledges that and doesn’t hurt any of them. It’s a double edged sword because it means so much to her that the six of them did ask her, but it’s painful as well because she has to deal with disappointing some, if not all, of them by her choice. And for a young high school girl like Haruka who is fairly sensitive to begin with, it’ll eat away at her easily. Uta No Prince Sama Episode #09 Anime Review

After the resort island episode where everyone got a bit of a break but thing still happened, events settle down a bit more for this episode of the series. Or as much as can be when you have a bunch of singers and songwriters together vying to take the top spot and become famous some day. With the show having worked through most of the male leads so far, giving them an episode to shine while others like Hayato have played up through the background for most of it before coming out strong, the time is nearing for the deadline regarding the graduation auditions. And Haruka, the cutie that she is in her classically milquetoast way, has a lot of people wanting to work with her. She’s shown some talent and growth to be sure, but there’s something about her that really feels like she’s not someone that deserves as much attention as she’s getting. Uta No Prince Sama Episode #08 Anime Review

After the ups and downs of the series, culminating in a fun piece the last time around that involved the revelations about Hayato to Haruka and the things he’s going through, this episode offers a chance to shift us to a different perspective for a bit. As luck would have it, the headmaster has a private island and is taking everyone there to do the summer camp for the students. While it’s obvious that we’re getting a beach adventure, I have to admit I was looking forward to it since the preview last time around because of the animation design of this series. Putting these great looking characters, colors and designs in a tropical beach setting is just highly promising from an aesthetic point of view alone. Uta No Prince Sama Episode #07 Anime Review

While her evolution hasn’t been handled the best as a student, Haruka is definitely improving over how she was at the start of the series. Not that that is much of a stretch considering what she was going through and her lack of real training which made it easy for others to mock her. But as we see here at the start of the episode, she’s getting some very positive feedback not only from her teachers but also the other students who have clearly seen just how much she’s grown and improved. And though they may compete on different levels, they are all students together and can appreciate when something significant like that happens. Haruka knows she owes it to the help of others though as they’ve been there as she’s worked through it all, so it simply helps her shine even more brightly.
