Modern Family

A series about a contemporary family. All kinds of "modern family" situations are being addressed. A father who has to come to terms with his son being gay, the difficulties of adopting a child, raising 3 children who are totally different from each other, your father being married to a much younger exotic beauty, you name it! Things that are happening more often in reality. The show is hilarious! A must watch.

Friends

A wonderful comedy about a group of 6 friends who live in New York city. Even though the show is mostly set in the 90's, it's still relevant and funny today (look at how many reruns it has on TV). People loved it then and people love it now! The shows has a recurring Christmas episode (almost) every season which is funny and festive (this is also true for other festivities like Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve). Prepare yourself for 10 seasons filled with love, affairs, humour, hate, annoyance and flirtation. And repeated quotes like: "Oh.. My... God... Chandler????", "We were on a break!", "How YOU doin'?", and many many more!

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is an amazing show! It's about a chemistry teacher who has gone rogue and takes matters into his own hands. When he suddenly becomes terminally ill he starts cooking Crystal Meth with a former student of his to earn money for his family once he's deceased. However, he gets to live longer than expected and he has to live with the consequences of his decisions. Because of his growing greed and empire he transforms from Walter White into Heisenberg, a frightening antihero. Even though his many futile attempts to quit the business, his adventures continue while his brother-in-law, a DEA officer, is chasing him. The music is very good and fits well into the story. The acting is very impressive, especially from the protagonist himself. I’m not so sure about the spin-off series “Better Call Saul” though. The character Saul Goodman was okay in BB, but I couldn’t care less about his story line. And besides, the series will never be better than Breaking Bad.

"I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested!" is one of my favourite quotes from this spectacular show. Even though I'm not very good at science and I don't always get the references, it's still funny. I love it how this group of "nerds", or should I say scientists, suddenly become socially awkward when a beautiful woman comes into the picture (something they know absolutely nothing about, which is a first). Through the seasons you see the characters develop immensely, which makes it fun to watch. Don't take Sheldon too seriously and be patient with Penny and all will be A-OK.

The Lying Game

As I've always been fascinated by twins I was very pleased with the concept of this show. I found it highly amusing and I was devastated when I heard the show was cancelled. I thought the characters were quite enjoyable, especially the twins (because they were totally different, but looked exactly the same - this resulted in many opportunities for the twins to play each other, which was nerve wracking for the viewer). Such a shame the show was cancelled, it had great potential.

I have only seen season 1 thus far, but this is one of the best tv series that I have seen in a while. I don't often jump up from the couch in surprise (as many tv series are too predictable nowadays), but this series really had me baffled at times. I'm excited to see where they take the story in season 2. Hopefully it will be as good as season 1, otherwise I will be disappointed.

Being Erica

I really like the concept of this series, going back in time to fix your regrets. It's interesting to see that most of the time nothing changes, so it wasn't Erica's fault in the first place or something else was going on. What I kind of disliked about the whole series, is that Erica can't stay single if her life depended on it. She literally likes every man she sees. I think Dr. Tom addressed it nicely in the last season, she is kind of looking for attention and she wants to be wanted. Overall I think Erica's advice to others (and Dr. Tom's advice of course!) are very good, some are even life lessons, rules to live by. But even though Erica is already a kind and strong character, if she would stay single a little bit longer in between relationships, and let herself grieve and be on her own for a little while, I think I would have liked her a little bit more.

How I Met Your Mother

Throughout the show you'll be wondering: Who's the mother? Come on! Tell me already. But the moment you know, it's not that important anymore. It's about the journey, not the destination so to speak. Nevertheless, it's interesting to see how the characters develop and which difficulties they face during a whopping 9 seasons. An enjoyable show that can be watched any time. It's quite similar to the show "Friends", they both follow a group of friends. Where "Friends" hangs out at a coffee place, "HIMYM" hangs out at a bar. Rachel and Monica's apartment is one of the most used sets in "Friends" while "HIMYM" uses Lily and Marshall's (and Ted's as well) apartment for most of the show. Both shows are situated in "the city that never sleeps": New York.

Pretty Little Liars

In the beginning I absolutely loved this show. But now I've got the feeling the producers are milking it; it has been going on for way too long. I love the characters and the fashion on the show though and I really want to know who A is and if Alison is a victim or the villain, so that's the reason I'm still watching. I also love the plot twists and the mystery. I've heard the network already renewed the show for another 2 seasons, so I'm guessing we won't be finding out who A is anytime soon.. :(

I love how dramatic and extravagant this series is and they are obviously aware of this "straight outta a telenovela, right?"
