To me, Sense8 is one of those Must Watch series.
Is it perfect? No, not really. We're going to get to that. But it will leave you with your mouth wide open. It will grab you (from the third ep on), and keep you watching until the very last episode. If I didn't have to go to work, I would've finished it in a day.
You just need to see what happens next. You need to know where these characters go, what will they experience and how will they beat this crazy conspiracy that's after them.
Sense8 deals with eight people - Will, Riley, Lito, Sun, Wolfgang, Kala, Nomi and Capheus. They all live in different countries. And yet, due to one events, they develop a psychic link that allows them to sense, visit, and know what each other knows.
All of these eight individuals are very different people, and yet they merge and interact in such a wonderful way. The parts where they become one are incredible, both in a cinematic way and a sensual way.
And I can honestly say I am 100% in love with every single one of them.
It's not just them, though. Each character is surrounded by fleshed out and rounded characters that add spice and individual conflict, be it lovers, friends or families (for better or worse).
I've never seen such diversity in TV before, in race, sexual orientation and relationship types. And definitely not CONVINCING diversity. None of the stories felt fake.
The only "fake" parts in the series, the only parts I felt could be done without, are all those philosophical, poetic musing. In moderation that's alright, but it was done often. It didn't feel authentic, it felt like the writers were trying too hard to be deep and meaningful. This show IS deep and meaningful, without all of it being spoken out-loud.
As for the filming? The editing? The score? All top notch.
