American Housewife

I only started to watch American Housewife because Mike & Molly had concluded but I still wanted my Katy Mixon fix - I'm so glad that I did.
The series follows the life of Katy Otto, the second fattest woman in Westport. She is married to Gregg, a university professor and has three children; Their eldest is Taylor, a sporty teenage girl who just wants to fit in with her peers. Oliver is their middle child, he is sarcastic and savvy and wants nothing more than to prove to the rich people of Westport that he is one of them and then there's Kay's favourite, Anna-Kat, sweet and innocent with one "flaw", she has OCD.
I think that after playing the main stars sister in Mike & Molly, a show that evolves around an over weight couple, that Katy Mixon is by far the best person to play this role - she has several years experience on a show with a similar storyline - and she is doing it proud.
She is a wife, a mother and a friend who is just trying to stand out among the wealthy, pretentious, skinny housewives and their privileged children after moving to her new hometown of Westport, Connecticut in order to get better schooling for her children.
It's a show you can relate to that will have you laughing every week. I can't wait for Season 2!

Cougar Town

I always felt that Cougar Town could have been a brilliant way to carry on Friends.. Them all living in a cul-de-sac in the suburbs, raising their families and dealing with the fact that they are no longer 20 somethings living in apartments in New York.
Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston all guest starred which gave me a little glimpse of that Friends feel I was craving.
Either way, without the friends aspect I honestly did love this show. Cougar Town follows a group of 7 people who live in the same cul-de-sac (or at least hang out there drinking wine every day!) in Florida. Its funny and is another show that shows that love has no boundaries and that you don't have to be related to truly be a family.
I really enjoyed it, it was the first show I watched staring one of the Friends cast after it ended and I therefore had high hopes, this show definitely lived up to them!

Big Little Lies

This all star show centers around the lives of three mothers; Madeline, Celeste and Jane. In the first episode you hear of a murder but the audience does not find out who was murdered who the murder was until the last episode.
I thought this show as pretty good, though I thought that the story seemed to move along quite slowly (this may just be me). I was quite disappointed that all of the shocking drama happened in the final episode, leaving me wanting more, after a fairly slow journey getting there. Overall it was a good show with great cast and I would recommend watching.
