Very solid sci-fi series with an intricate plotline. The future it depicts is pretty realistic. Political atmosphere of the colonised solar system echoes the situations on our humble globe in different times and regions.
Fantastic series and great cast. Cillian Murphy plays the lead character Tommy Shelby superbly. He said that Britain successfully carried its upper class and gentry to televison but the working class was sort of overlooked. And this series mythologizes working class like Amerca does with series like Sons of Anarchy and the Sopranos.
Comparisions can be made between Peaky Blinders and Boardwalk Empire. The former probably owes its chance to be aired to latters success, although it was conceptualized before the others release. Even so I would say Peaky Blinders is much better. I liked Broadwalk Empire but eventually stopped watching it. This series makes me care about its characters and storyline a lot more.
I just watched the whole season in one go and it was amazing. It is dark and innocent, humorous and moving at the same time. At the beginning it was really twisted and funny but I wasn't expecting much emotion. By the end I was so invested in the characters that I was on the verge of tears. On a side note It's a graphic novel adaptation and I'm tempted to check out the source material.
Sci-fi meets western in this show which is based on a 70's film. Westworld is a wild west themed amusement park where a role playing game with sentient robots takes place.
It has a similar vibe to Battlestar Galactica and Ex Machina in the way that it questions the ethics and safety of possible future A.I. technologies. Since I generally love this concept and Battlestar Galactica is one of my favourite series of all time, I was really looking forward to to this show. Fortunately, the first episode seems promising. Perhaps it was not as exciting as I was anticipating but it could be because I'd already read about many of the plot points in the early reviews. All in all I have high hopes for this one.
Also, this show is seen as HBO's replacement of Game of Thrones and is expected to accumulate a sizeable audience before GOT concludes. I'm crossing my fingers for that otherwise, it won't be on air very long due to its high budget (e.g., Carnival).
Edit: The first season was absulately amazing! Looking forward to the next one!
It's like game of thrones of futuristic, post-apocalyptic teen-drama. Pretty good series.
One of the first HBO series I have watched and it stayed with me. I'm not sure how it holds up now, but it was different, more unsettling and captivating than anything I'd seen at the time.
Another amazing Margaret Atwood adaptation. The plot is based on true events but it keeps its mistery and intrigue throughout. The acting is great all around but especially by the lead Sarah Gordon. Her subtlety compliments the enigmatic storytelling. Although the events are vague the points the story makes are very clear.
This show is a Marvel adaptation but gives off a different feeling than most of the other television series that are set in the same universe. Based on the first episode, it has superb style and the plot seems to be both well constructed and intriguing.
This show is pretty great so far. I haven't read the comic books which this series is based on but heard they were amazing. It's already promising some very interesting themes, and everything is interwoven with humour too. Stylisticaly it is superb; I can almost picture the graphic novels frame by frame. Hopefully this series will be popular enough so that we can see the plot come to fruition. Otherwise I'll pick up the comics.
I have read part of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series and really liked the character Lucifer, haven't read the spin-off series that this show is based on though. I was really hoping this wouldn't turn out to be another crime solving show with an eccentric lead but unfortunately seems like it did. There are other parts of it that relates to the characters background but as a whole feels a bit dissatisfying. Maybe I'll stick around for a few more episodes to see if it pulls me in.
