First class show. Engaging throughout. Julia Stiles is amazing as is the whole cast. The settings are gorgeous. There are several overly melodramatic moments and ample contrived plot points to keep the action going, but the payoffs are good enough to allow for the occasional purposeful misdirection.

its kind of like a modern version of Dynasty.

This is a fun show, fast paced, exotic adventures, and the chemistry between the main characters is just right. The theme song is addictive. If Indiana Jones was really in it for the money and had an attractive love interest keeping him honest while doing the real archeology but she will of course will have nothing to do with him because he is an nonredeemable scoundrel.

How have I never written a review for this show; its my favorite show. At least it was my favorite show for the first 4 seasons. The 5th season was rather lackluster imo, as I judge by my lack of double, triple and even quadruple viewings of the earlier season episodes. {If you wait a few days between views, its almost as good as watching it the first time}

Still, its a great series... the acting is perfect, the actors are cream of the crop, and where else but New York does a humble doctor become a police consultant but ALWAYS look like she just stepped off a catwalk in Paris. I must admit that LL is more the reason that I watch the show than JLM, but JLM is a fav as well [hint: just saw T2, its almost as good as T1].

The main criticism I have is that the show can at times be formulaic. Not that this makes it easy to guess at the crime solutions, as at times the more formulaic episodes add highly unrealistic twists and turns to the motivations to force an overly elaborate plot to play out 'logically'. Suspension of dis-belief certainly must be deployed on the more non-organic plots.

SPOILER: Very much looking forward to Season 6 (and a movie or two), you knew he was going to be inflicted with something.

A lot like the Goonies, but with sexy teenagers. The plot was great right up until episode 7 when they suddenly do the most stupid thing imaginable with the gold. Still worth watching, especially during a plague.

On episode 7 at the moment, the series started off great, but there are a few very annoying issues that slowly build up over the episodes. I keep downgrading it half a star here, half a star there. Its mediocre at best as a whole. During a plague, sure, its something to watch. We probably need a Plague Rating System, that adds 1 star to every show, lol.

Positives:
-The young girl actress is mostly great, and its only the scenes where the writer or director has her burst into tears for no good reason that her lack of acting ability comes through.
-The mystery in the past and the girl hunting for clues is fun. Its kind of like The Goonies at points and kind of like Harriet The Spy at other points.
-The utter and complete incompetence of the Police was spot on. Well written and highly accurate to reality.

Negatives:
-The ghost of the abducted kid is stupid. This kind of religious nonsense ruins perfectly good shows.
-The first episode made me think the setting was in the past, but then big cell phones suddenly appear. In fact the cell phones seem to come an go when its necessary, with the girl actually using a pay phone with quarters at one point. I suspect that the writer originally wrote it as a period piece, and then it morphed in places to be current.
-Related to the above point, there aren't investigative journalists anymore. So the modern setting doesn't make sense.
-Police don't let kids see crime reports, no matter how much they want to see them.
-Why would the Van still be in the salvage yard, 20 years later, only now to be destroyed to cover up the crooked cop's original coverup?
-The pay phone in the middle of nowhere in the last episode {eye roll}

Highly misogynistic. Women in slavery as if its no big deal, men pushing woman around and physically threatening them. We don't need $#*t like this.

Its Agatha Christie, but its got to be her weirdest story. Two episodes only, a 2 part movie basically. There is no closure on the whole "witches" thing and its what is called an "unreliable narrator" story, where you are lead to believe the three women are supposed to be witches and caused the murders, but then its really the two different guys doing the murdering in the end. Not big surprise there. Its smoke and mirrors. The best part is the 'period'-ness. The apartment setting, the clothes, and the cocktail parties seem very 1950/60. I especially liked all the gadgets the woman uses in her kitchen and house.
