Im a massive adult swim fan and i pretty much love all things animated. also a huge Red Dwarf fan. I love my tv shows as my wife will tell you because i watch them and rewatch them lol.
What a pile of garbage this is. As scifi shows go this was nothing more than a hackneyed attempt. You would expect more from Spielberg but then again would you? Crappy acting, equally crappy casting and the writing was your typical Yay America bulls@!t that we see in Hollywood every single day. If you're serious about your scifi as I am then this is one to miss... Unless you're aiming with a bat :)
As I said before in my review of The Hogfather I advise anyone who isn't familiar with Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of books to read them before watching any of the tv/movie adaptations. As usual lots of things were changed and/or left out on the screen version but that didn't make it bad or unpleasant to watch. The Part of Moist von Lipwig was cleverly cast and brilliantly acted as were the parts of Adora Belle and Junior Postman Groat but the best bit of casting genius and in turn acting has to go to the role played by Charles Dance in that of Lord Vetinari. The sets (as usual) were amazing and the whole thing was as uplifting as it was enjoyable. 5 stars would have been awarded if they hadn't left out or changed so much of the story.
If you're not familiar with Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of books then you should first read this one before watching it. As always with book to screen adaptations the book is way better than the movie/tv show and as much of a cliche as that sounds it is almost always true. On the face of it though this was fantastic. To see your favorite Discworld characters brought to life on screen is worth the experience alone and although much of the book is left out it is still really gratifying to watch. Superb casting and brilliantly designed sets and effects make up for the omissions. I have no problem giving this 4 stars.
There's not too much you can say about Supernatural that hasn't been said already but here goes. The show started quite well back in the day and steadily declined from there. C'mon it's a horror type fantasy show it's not that hard to get good story lines out of this genre. That being said almost every writer involved in these types of programs gets it horribly wrong! For me the moment they did a "Look Who's Talking" episode with Dean as a dog, it was over. I saw the latest episode with the self indulgent Charlie character and it was confirmed for me that this pile of garbage has finally given up any sense of seriousness. This show definitely needs to be hunted down and put out of our misery.
This show is good for a laugh no arguments here but between this and Family Guy the humor does get stale fast. Roger the Alien is always a savior for MacFarlane in this show but overall there's never anything fantastic about it. Voice talent is average and the writing is Family Guy so if that's your thing you'll enjoy this.
What on earth happened to this show? It had great potential and was never given a fair shake. I laughed myself silly watching the first season and was looking forward to more that never materialised. If you like things like Red Dwarf then this show is for you. Killed off way too soon.
This was fun to begin with but it did get fast for me. Still well worth watching for anyone who hasn't seen it though. The cast are all great, no complaints there and the writing was somewhat predictable but still enjoyable.
From artist/comedian/moody git Tony Millionaire (he was very moody with me when i tried to get him to do an interview for my old cartoon page) The Drinky Crow show was a laugh riot. Dino Stamatopoulos voiced Drinky Crow and as always was excellent but the best character for me was Uncle Gabby, voiced by David Herman. Those familiar with the Maakies comics will know of Drinky already but those of you who aren't should check this one out. Only lasted 1 season but could have and should have been given more. 4 stars.
Another great animated comedy ended too soon. This show was fantastic and had potential to be great. From Bob's Burgers creator Loren Bouchard and featuring the voice talent of Eugene Mirman and H Jon Benjamin Lucy Daughter of the Devil was hilariously funny and beautifully done. The animation took some getting used to be but it's sometimes good to be a wee bit different
I can't say enough good things about this cartoon. Kids love it, and rightly so, even adults too because the humor is very [adult swim] whilst still being child friendly. The voices are all spot on. The writing isn't about to win any major awards obviously but it IS a kids cartoon. It just seems different in many ways from other cartoons and I know it makes my 4 year old son happy and also me. 5 stars.
