The Standups is a variety of stand up comedians... some funny and some not. These comedians are raw and do make you laugh. Some material is old and unimaginative, some is hilarious and outrageous. This show is still worth a watch, you will get some laughs in.
The Ultimate Beastmaster is reality show about the strength and integrity of the human spirit. Contestants are put against each other to push their bodies and minds to overcome an obstacle course. Using back stories and human emotion the show depicts a rare fierceness of the human mind. The obstacle course is well devised and the commentators are funny but sometimes obnoxious. I recommend this show for reality nuts.
Top 10 Secrets and Mysteries is a British documentary listing the top 10 secrets the World has been (allegedly) keeping. This show simply creates a list without elaborating enough to actually defend its point of view. Even though the things listed are quite interesting and intriguing, not enough evidence is given nor is the show alive enough for me... its a little dry you could say. This is not a very good Documentary is my opinion but it does hold some diamonds in the rough.
Sirens is a sitcom created by Denis Leary about paramedics (EMT's). This show is quite similar to Rescue Me without the dark and sad atmosphere. The writing is witty, the characters are well cast but the show did lack some wow luster. Still a decent watch, it made me smile and it made me laugh at times...
Generation Kill is an action drama about a company of men in Irak during the invasion of Koweit. The show follows the exploitation of Irak during the war, the pride of the ones in charge, the passion of soldiers and the pains of war. The characters are very well cast, the firefights depicted are realistic and the confusion of war. This is a decent mini-series by HBO.
Snatch is a British Crime Drama about a couple of boys who have gotten themselves in over their heads. They steal millions of dollars of gold bullion by mistake and now have to unload this commodity without rising suspicion. The mob, gangs, gypsy's, gangsters, politicians, a priest and corrupt cops all want a piece of the golden pie. The back story is well written, the cast is selected nicely but the show lacks a little grit in my opinion. Still this show is a decent watch, you better watch what you take, it may take back...
Adam DeVine's House Party is a comedy that feature live acts from stand-up comedies. The unique thing about this show is that it consists of these comedians performing at a house party, Adams house party. There are small scripted stints here and there of Adam and the comedians performing. They party, they drink, they make fun and they think. The comedians are pretty funny, some bad, some good but this show does make for good background noise because once and a while you will laugh.
Corner Gas is a Canadian comedy sitcom about a Gas Station in the middle of nowhere and a town of people just trying to live their life. The jokes are lazy but creative, the remarks are oh so Canadian and their mini-adventures are quite delightful. Its always nice to watch old reruns of CG... I'm from a small town in Canada and this show is pretty spot on. With and excellent writing staff and clever comedian Brent Butt, this show is always a decent watch. I recommend this show to the sitcom fanatic.
Pure is a Canadian crime drama in Southern Ontario about the Mennonite Mob. The story is a little slow, the accents are bad as I'm Canadian and live near Mennonites in Southern Ontario and its not even close to the same. The acting is decent but the premise and the production value lacks a little something... Probably could get into it but just isn't for me... not a terrible show but I'm not going to give more of my time.
Lucky Louie is a sitcom about a mundane man who's trying to make it through life one day at a time. This is your typical sitcom with clever writing, decent actors and has a good pace. I can see why it got canceled but I enjoyed watching a single season of it.
