Felt that there was more to tell than what we got. Could easily have gotten another season out of it.
I had read the book but couldn't remember what it was about. Took the first 30 mins to remind me. Kept true to the parts I remember.
One thing to remember about this is that it is based on a book that is considered literature. This means that the story was written for the sole purpose of telling a story (not entertainment), so it will seem slow and boring to those who want the excitement of modern-day productions.
Well that was disappointing. Still wondering what the point was.
Season 1 wasn't what I expected, but entertaining nonetheless. Season 2 - where do I start? That woman who thinks she's a comedian - I cringed the whole time and was embarrassed for her. I didn't think she was funny at all. The fans that they followed - there were alot of "this is all about me" attitudes, and if I were their friends I'd be telling them to pull their heads in. It was good that this time you saw more of the band however I think a couple of them come across as wanting to give the fans a good time without actually having to do the things that come with the territory. They are entitled to feel that way, however I wouldn't have been putting those attitudes on film.
Was easy to get into the momentum of the show when I was playing catch-up, but now I'm caught up and only watching once a week I'm finding it hard to keep the momentum going.
Update: Have now finished watching and they have left so many questions unanswered.
It tried too hard to be funny...plus I'm not a big fan of Rhys Darby so I'll be giving this a miss.
Alot like the movie Sleepers so not exactly original. Didn't even finish the first episode. Not all movies should be made into a TV series.
I know it's based on a real person, but it's like they're trying to make it like Grey's Anatomy, House and Three Rivers all rolled into one. Won't be watching past the second episode.
First half was good, but it just couldn't hold my attention.
Been a while since I read the book which I found was good as I wasn't comparing the book to the series. I found the show well cast, even if I think the story could have stretched over a few more episodes.
