The word disappointing comes to mind. The final in particular was weak and anticlimactic.
Would be even better if the husband wasn't so irritating and the son wasn't such an entitled ass.
It's very easy to see why it didn't get past the first season. Scripts are bad, acting is worse.
It's watchable and there is potential, but not alot seems to happen.
Difficult to follow what's going on at times because there is so much happening. Not only do you wonder who committed the murder, but you also wonder who did it - there are so many possibilities. Perry is a controlling ass and it's difficult to watch scenes with him in them. Ranata is one of those people who gets a bee in her bonnet over something insignificant and wants to control everyone and everything around her which droves me nuts as well. Took alot of effort to finish watching the show just because of those two characters.
This is a really difficult series to get into. It's actually really painful to watch. I also can't help thinking that James Spader might have been a better choice as Pope (if he wasn't already in The Blacklist).
It's entertaining and a good way to kill time, but I wouldn't rave about it.
Good show, but the only things even approaching historically accurate are the King & Queen of France, Mary Queen of Scots, her husband, and his sister and two younger brothers. The fact that there were six other legitimate siblings, and two other illegitimate ones, seems to have gone unnoticed for most of the series - and the one illegitimate one depicted wasn't historically correct. Show would have held a lot more weight if was a bit more accurate. By the end it got even worse - Mary actually had a third husband, but if she had been held for 21 years as depicted the she obviously couldn't have married a third time. Steer clear if you like historical shows and know your history because this will drive you crazy with its inaccuracies.
Writing is terrible and the characters are lacking depth. Elizabeth Hurley as Queen? She wishes. England would be in trouble if they had a queen like her.
Good premise, terrible execution. Too much tech, terrible writing, terrible acting, and there is something missing.
