"Olive Kitteridge" (2008) is a novel by American author Elizabeth Strout. HBO is producing a mini-series based on the novel, that will feature Frances McDormand in the title role and is slated to air in November 2014. The four-part drama tells the poignantly sweet, acerbically funny and devastatingly tragic story of a seemingly placid New England town wrought with illicit affairs, crime and tragedy, told through the lens of Olive, whose wicked wit and harsh demeanor mask a warm but troubled heart and staunch moral center. Richard Jenkins portrays Olive's husband, Henry.

I'm always down with a lady kicking ass and taking names, both literally and metaphorically.
They might be small, but they pack a big punch.
First it was a book, not it's a TV show
Book adaptations - both modern interpretations or classic book to show adaptations. And perhaps a play adaptation or two.
Shows set in a long gone period of time. Even if that time happens to be the 80's. Basically everything not taking place in the present of the time of filming.
