This show suffers from a lack of consistency, the religious tones started nicely in the background but have become so intrinsic to the storytelling that in all honesty I may give up.

When I watch this show I find myself equal parts amused and horrified. The kids all seem to be content being incredibly poor, Axel copes well with the constant smothering whilst Sue and Brick (yes they named him that!) adjust well to the varying levels of neglect and general disinterest shown by the parents. Each of the kids seem able to compensate for the personality disorders each of them have developed from poor diet, lack of stimulation and the afore mentioned smothering/neglect dynamic in the family. Now the parents, Dad at a guess didn't want the kids and if he did, one would have been enough. This parenting style from a father is quite typical, the mother on the other hand.... well let's just say tat if I knew her she would be in prison for neglect and child abuse! Only after I manage to remind myself that these are not real people, and kudos to the actors for that, do I remember that this is not a social commentary on middle america (yes it is) and is actually a comedy akin to Roseanne, showing how average people work hard to make ends meet in order to provide a loving and nurturing home (wait a minute?). Always keeping me thinking, The middle I salute you.

As an avid fan of Steven King I watch anything with his name on it. Despite him having no involvement in this show it has turned out to be one of the best adaptations of his work, there have been countless nods to many of his stories, my favourite of which involved a young child in a yellow raincoat following a paper boat down the storm drain. The 3 main actors have amazing chemistry and bring their characters to life, find myself actually caring what happens to them which is rare these days. The Teague brothers have begun to shed light on their mysterious sides and seem to be leaving the comic relief to Gloria and the sheriff, who quite frankly are more than up to the task.

This show runs the whole gamut from hilarious to just downright stupid. I hate reality shows so sometimes just the style is annoying but as it is poking fun at the genre it can be overlooked.

I can't even begin to describe what a waste of an opportunity this was. A chance to tell the untold tales of the alpha quadrant and the birth of the federation and this was the best they could do?
I think it was futurama and george takei who put it best "way to kill the franchise bakula"

There have never been enough animated sci-fi comedy drama's on tv in my opinion but this baby right here, cancelled and brought back to life twice only to get a third strike from the network idiots leaving us thoroughly dissapointed(although an upcoming crossover with the simpsons should be worth a giggle)

What can i say about this show? Funny, relateable and cancelled before it even got going. If things keep going this way there will be war in the streets
