I really wanted to like this show. I wanted to support Morris Chestnut (HE IS SO YUMMY!), but the concept isn't interesting, or rather the writing isn't that good. Also, as a Miami native, this show is filmed in California, NOT MIAMI. We don't have high-rises that high, we don't have Craftsman Bungalows (which I so LOVE), and there is no such thing as an East Miami Police Department. I know it's a fictional TV show, but even the basics have to be on point. Though I must say, I may occasionally tune in to see Morris Chestnut's chest, smile, arms, face, or hear his buttery smooth voice.

I knew this was going to be good from the moment I finished watching the trailer. I'm now two episodes in and it's like I'm back in the 80s and I love it. Please don't let this have a dumb ending and please let it get renewed for a second season.

HILARIOUS!!! I mean on The IT Crowd level of funny. Plunge, now that's a fun word to say, plunge.

I'm not sure how I feel about this show. It's on Netflix, check. It has people who can actually act, check. It's about zombies and has recognizable undead tropes, check. Yet, I'm teetering in neutral: I don't want to give it a bad review because I watched all ten episodes nor do I want to spread the word by encouraging people to watch. I might have to re-watch it to see if I like this show, which doesn't exactly fill me with joy.

Blindspot

Normally, I don't review TV shows this early on; however, I can see all of the flaws in Blindspot. Mistake #1: the writers provided inklings of a romance between Weller and Jane way too early. A trained, hardened FBI agent wouldn't be so empathetic so soon. Mistake #2: the writers introduced her possible identity too soon, which should have been a mid-season plot point where the viewers would have to wait until after Christmas to find out the truth, and she shouldn't be the missing girl so as to keep the viewers guessing. Mistake #3: the mystery shooting instructor should've stayed in "flashback" form until near the end of season 1. His presence in the "real world" happened too soon. This is a TV show, not a movie or miniseries, take your time. Mistake #4: Jane goes in and out of little girl and bad ass too much for either to be believable. Mistake #5: Jane going out in the field so soon doesn't seem like something that is realistic. Now, being hooked up via camera from a guarded room inside FBI HQ makes more sense while they try and ascertain her identity. They know she had a Navy Seal tattoo but don't call the Navy?! That's odd. As an aside, I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but over the past few years, there has been an overall shift in TV writing. I think the more experienced writers have either retired or gotten fired. NBC needs a hit, and poor writing/storytelling is not going to help revive their network (new or younger doesn't always equal better). I give this show 2 1/2 seasons, at most, before it is cancelled. This could've been a hit if the writers were better at crafting a story.

First, watch this show. Second, don't watch this show. Okay, okay, let me explain. Alan Cumming is gifted and entertaining. There, that's my reason to watch. Now there's a slew of problems, all detectable in the first episode and that doesn't bode well for the rest of the series. America, what's wrong with our TV writers--stop trying to eff me and make love, i.e. take your time and don't head straight for the c-spot as soon as we're alone, I like a slow build. How many character reveals were in this episode?! It's as if the writers didn't even take a moment to think about who their characters are, an NYPD detective allowed to work alone on a serial killer case and an ex-CIA operative/ivy league professor, yet neither can stop revealing things to each other. Also, it seems like Instinct has POI's costume designer. If they're going to borrow Finch's style, then they need to borrow some of his secrecy as well. If they're going to combine Finch and Reese, then the professor wouldn't be so eager. Lastly, I hope this show keeps Whoopi, too bad she's cast as his book editor and not as someone that would get more screen time.

Who ever came up with the idea for this show has an amazingly creative mind. It was inserted into cult-classicdom after the first episode. If you aren't watching, you are missing out.

I liked the movie (b/c of Jim Caviezel), so I had to check out the show. The casting is fine (I like Mekhi Phifer), but after the first episode I'm concerned. Based on how much was revealed in the pilot, I can see this hitting a wall much sooner than expected. I'll probably stick it out because I'm curious.

Fleabag

Miranda fans rejoice, Fleabag is like an updated version of the hit comedy, if Miranda could say sex without whispering. There are so many similarities between the two shows that I IMDB'd it to see if Miranda Hart was one of the show's writers. I'm still not sure why the show is called Fleabag, but it is good and funny. This is not a family show and definitely NSFW. I hope Amazon renews it for a second season because I want to know more about the Boo love triangle. This is worth a weekend binge, just order some great take-out because you won't want the episodes to end.

Marcella

The plot and range of characters are discombobulating. There are multiple murderers with very thin threads to connect them, the lead actress has blackouts that mesh poorly with the plot. The acting is good, Marcella's husband and supervisor are cute, and it's something to occupy my time as I scroll through Houzz photos.
