Highway to Heaven

Typical episodes stressed moral, Christian themes; though many episodes dealt with common human failings, such as egotism, bitterness and greed, some shows addressed such topics as racism and cancer. A few shows, however, were played mainly for laughs. It's an uplifting show that showcases all the best aspects of religion. The stories dealt with mental and physical disabilities, obesity, lying, cheating, greed, gambling, poverty, literacy and just about every subject within the human spectrum and beyond. It was very sentimental at times but watching it gave one a sense of inner peace.

Hart to Hart

There was plenty of action and intrigue. This is a highly entertaining series featuring suspense and adventure, but above all the constantly romantic relationship between the married couple, the Harts, around which this story revolves. It's a wonderful series for both mystery and romance. The two leads have a great on screen chemistry. The quality of the filming, the lighting, and the sets combined to produce a visually stunning effect. There was always at least one "action" scene or chase, and the show always closed with some silly, sexual banter between the leads...usually shot in the bedroom set.

Good characters, great animation, fun stories, cool songs, great writing, and a lot of action. Also good lessons. The show is full of vague references to Greek myths and plays. This show had quality voice talent. Vibrantly animated, has a catchy theme tune, interesting story lines, really funny and witty writing and jokes while leaving some moments of cuteness and sometimes poignancy.

Doogie Howser, MD was wonderfully funny with a touch of life. The writing was consistently sharp and witty, and pretty mature. An accurate, mature show with humorous elements in it rather then a screwball comedy. It sent out a positive message, there was no violence or explicit sex. It was funny, touching, and you could learn something. It managed to combine humor and drama in a good way that kept the viewer interested and entertained. Despite the fact that it was somewhat melodramatic in a few episodes, it still provides numerous lessons about life and the real world.

A charming and quirky cartoon with a lively sense of invention and a decidedly offbeat sense of humor. It’s funny, creative, surreal, weird, and it has some dark themes and it can be kinda scary at times but all and all this show is awesome. The quality of the animation itself is superb, especially considering that this was a late eighties/early nineties cartoon. They made use of CGI years before it became commonplace. The writing has held up surprisingly well over the years. True, the show relies a lot on puns and sight gags, so if you don't like that sort of thing, this isn't for you. The writing was very strong. The voice performances were top-grade. The music is catchy, animation is colorful and the overall plot is pretty exciting. The opening theme is nice and is accompanied by a great opening sequence. With good values being taught through the conflicts in each episode, this is a show fit for all ages.

I loved this series. Bruce Timm and Paul Dini knew and understood the character of Superman, his universe and they did a good job in translating them into the animated series. Superman in this looks the best, the most noble, gentlest, most caring, most good & just simply heroic. Superman is an intelligent cartoon for adults and children with great plots, humor and plenty of action. It is an excellent example of outstanding ideas, insight, animation, action, a bit of romance, and suspense. The music was wonderful, the incidental music has a hauntingly rousing undercurrent and the intro was very cool. The writing was tense and intelligent with nicely judged bits of humor as well, while the story lines were always compelling with a dark atmosphere without it being overly so. The characters were wonderful, Superman was a very charismatic hero, Supergirl was also a great addition, Lois avoided being stereotypical, Lex Luthor and Braniac were great villains.

Entertainingly bonkers with the most absurd one liners. One part Bond, one part Indiana Jones, one part western, and one part sci-fi, it was also one of the most fun shows. It had the right combination of cast, characters, comedy, action, and adventure. The show never took itself too seriously. A western with elements of science fiction, overlaid with clever writing and wit without self-consciousness. Each character was eccentric in his/her own way and great fun to watch. what makes the characters stand out is uniformly excellent writing from a team of certifiable eccentrics in their own right. With the talent in front of and behind the cameras, everything just clicks. All of the supporting roles are equally excellent. I loved the anachronisms and bad puns ("You got the sheriff!" "Yeah, but I didn't get the deputy."). The music perfectly complimented the Western theme of the series and the absurdity of the incidents chronicled. The chemistry of the cast is superb between Brisco, Bowler, Socrates and Dixie. You can see how the relationships have formed due to the 'adventures' they have shared. If I had to give this series a liking, it would be an Indiana Jones cowboy series, where the violence is enough to set the scene but not graphic, the humor is enough but not distracting from the story, the stories & plots enough to ensure you forget the historical inaccuracies and see a really good program. Sadly, Fox canceled this fantastic show after only one year on the air.

Futurama had its own brand of comedic flair, which is absolutely hilarious. This show had great writing and slapstick humor. It also had a complex yet emotional story which conveyed the viewers emotions. It had amazing characters done by a truly talented voice cast. Even though it was short, you can keep watching it and it never gets old. I The characters were relatable, the concept was fantastic and the animation was amazing. All of the characters were well thought out and worked incredibly well together, on top of the fact that situations and anecdotes from previous episodes were brought up all the time. There was a sense of continuity (the characters aged, unusual in a cartoon, and there were various stories that spread out throughout different episodes and seasons). You came to care about the characters, each one was different and interesting in their own ways. Unlike many other cartoons, there was a lot of character development. With an extremely amusing cast of characters, plot lines, laugh out loud jokes and even some emotional moments, this show has everything. Adventure, comedy and romance can all be found within this show. The characters were really well drawn, the backgrounds were audacious and the visual effects were eye-popping. And the music was brilliant, and the theme tune is definitely memorable. This show was ended way too soon. There were many more story lines that could have been told.

The Finder

I loved this show. It was thrilling, interesting, and always kept me at the edge of my seat. The plots had unusual twists and the cast performed admirably. It was far more original than anything else around at the time with lots of humor to go along with the clever scripts. This cast, these writers, and this concept were all awesome. This is a very different series, it keeps you guessing as the "The Finder" goes on the hunt. It also gives you enough clues to put things together yourself. The characters are ones you want to pull for to do the right thing and you find yourself caring about how things work out for them. The cast had great chemistry and I laughed out loud every episode. You got a real sense of 'family' from the characters. I loved the way the show had action, laughs, and trivia, you learned something new from each show. Law, life, science, art... I have seen so many shows come and go with little reasoning behind why they were canceled. I've been upset, let down, even sad, but never have I felt all of that and cheated at the same time. This show had such great potential and deserved to be renewed. The cliffhanger's ending left me with so many questions.

Top notch writing, excellent characters, great voice acting. It's premature demise was just tragic. Intelligent story lines, good dialogue from funny to moving (and beyond) and a seamless, fulfilling story arc telling a truly epic adventure. It was full of action, drama, love and sacrifice. The dialogue is very well written, the way they portrayed the characters was excellent. The humor and drama is balanced out nicely. Animation is slick and cool-looking with some great special effects that range from the flying spacecraft to the bright Green/Red Lantern constructs created. What this series did well, was to show the capabilities and limitations of the power rings. Very well done and spot on, the way it's portrayed in the comics. Simply saying that the entire series is beautiful is not doing it nearly enough justice. Every character has a distinct style, as does every planet, from Mogo's forests and mountains, to the ruins of Biot, and every single image is compelling. The characters manage to say as much through body language as words and the animators have gone out of their way to ensure that characters who are not currently part of the conversation, but are on screen do not simply stand static. The backgrounds are beautiful in their own right.
