I rarely meet a show I don't track... :D I have lists galore as I love all genres of tv, but, hey, it means I never run out of shows! I've found even more shows to watch through some amazing sidereelers' lists! Starting conversations with lists is one of my favorite things about sidereel. I love how we can all love or hate a show yet still have a friendly chat. You'll find me dashing around the site, leaving friendly comments on reviews, shows, lists and articles. <3
Thank you to @TelevisionFanboy as this is the first anime I've ever watched. The animation was exceptional, I loved the way each character walked differently and how their voices had so much - and sometimes no - emotion!!! Yikes!
I watched it subbed, as I don't speak Japanese. It was scary and creepy but not too much, so I binge watched the first few episodes then panicked when I realized there were only ten eps. After that, I took it slower but did finish this beautiful show in less than a week and will have to rewatch it later on in the year as it was wonderful. Now, it's onto Full Metal Alchemist and many more! Stellar article, @TelevisionFanboy, tyvm for introducing me to anime.
Unless it's written by Andrew Davies I don't usually care much for Period Dramas on TV but The Halcyon is outstanding in every way. I love, love, love it. I love the clothes, the china, the uniforms, the sexual tension, the outright tension, nefarious goings on concerning WW2 hint slightly at the sub-text of of 'Remains of the Day' but it's the family and hotel workers high jinks that are most enthralling. Oh, the secrets they keep! Kara Tointon is a supremely confident chanteuse, get that girl into Hollywood movies, or at least Broadway. The casting is superb and I just am waiting week after week to get at each new episode. One not to miss, in my very humble opinion...
scotwot = who in a previous life, circa the time of 'The Halcyon' would most definitely have been a scullery maid! ; )
This was an eye opener for a lot of people who didn't know people lived and still live like this. For most of us, though, every character is someone you know, even just to say hello to in the street. Admit it, you either live in this chaos or know someone who does! : ) C'mon! : ) I have adored the Royle Family since the very first show. The late Caroline Aherne and her writing partner Craig Cash made the perfect sitcom. It didn't hurt that they both acted in it as well. Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnstone, you just believe they're married, they were also in 'Brookie' as a married couple in the 80s/90s.
It's funny because it's outlandish yet so damn real, the pathos and poignancy bring it all together to beat even my all time fave, Black Adder (don't hurt me, Edmund and Baldrick fans!)
RIP, Caroline Aherne, you were sweet, loved by everyone and you wrote humor better than anyone else! Sadly, sadly missed.
Absolutely outstanding. The creepiest, spookiest and all things 'bump in the night' horror show I have seen in a long, long time. Only the evil here is during the night and day, yep, there's no place to hide, especially from Candle Cove. It's a must watch for horror fans.
Horrifying yet riveting.
After watching this sensational premiere, I'm in.
Not my kinda show...not dissing it, I just don't enjoy it.
I love Iyanla! Remember when she was always on Oprah and she would interact with the audience, "Why aren't you leaving a man who doesn't love you, a job you hate?" Answer: "I can't..." Immediately she would interrupt with, "Cancel CAN'T! Won't, don't, can't, it' all means you feel you *can't* do something, "Cancel can't."
I've bought and read all of her books and am very glad to have had them, also very glad to know she is now back on her feet. Believe in yourself, "Cancel can't" Someone get me a post-it plus a magnet for the fridge! :) I need to find this on a channel near me...
I totally forgot to review this. This is not a show to miss. Right from the first three minutes it grabs you and just doesn't let go. Stellan Skarsgaard is, as always, superbly talented and needs to be for this very difficult role. I can't say anything or else it would be a spoiler. Everyone in this show is excellent, the plots are great, it shows off London, both the good and the bad and through it all 'River' captivates. I cannot wait for the second season. :)
Love Alex Polizzi, she just tells is at it is. No nonsense, vast experience, has her own exquisite hotel and is very, very good at coaxing reluctant and sometimes downright rude hoteliers into removing clutter, even if all they do is grumble and moan all the way through. I do sometimes wonder why they go on the show when they hate everything she advises, and that her specialists advise but I suppose it's very hard to be stuck in your old fashioned ways, even if you only have 10% occupancy and are staring bankruptcy in the face.
It's time to play the music
