MY PARENTS ARE ALIENS - SEASON SEVEN
Ah, brings back so many memories. I used to love it because as much as it was chessy, it has a realistic setting . It's funny, entertaining and unlike most children shows these days.
MONA THE VAMPIRE - SEASON FOUR
Mona the Vampire by Sonia Holleyman is another one of those classic children's book I remember being read to me as a child that in later years became a successful television cartoon series. I've chosen to review it as it's a story that inspired my own imagination as a child, but had completely forgotten about until very recently.
THE QUEENS NOSE - SEASON THREE
A British classic. As a child, I remember checking every single fifty pence piece to see if it is dated 1973 (after checking the ones in my purse). Another enchanting story from Dick King-Smith, I would love it because I could relate like most other children my age. The story of an uncle who "gets you" as well as a seven wishes from an ordinary old fifty pence piece is irresistible!
THE WORST WITCH - SEASON FOUR
Full of cheese. However, lodged in my brain as a faint memory, I had to add this to the list of 'childhood favorites'.
What do you expect from an 80's TV production of a children's book?
ARTHUR - SEASON SEVENTEEN
A thoughtful show for kids to grow up on.
THE WIRE - SEASON FOUR
It's loose and rambling; its dramatic climaxes don't coincide neatly with the conclusion of any given episode. Its dialogue, overseen by creator David Simon ... is so good it often sounds improvised. One criticism of the show I've read is that it's repetitive (in showing the slow process of how the police bring down bad guys). But what those critics don't get is that those qualities are exactly what make 'The Wire' the most realistic yet funkiest cop show on TV.
LUTHER - SEASON ONE
With the tormented Luther, it's sometimes tough even to identify who is the cat and who is the mouse. Writing and acting come together to produce characters, more than stories, who are powerful, surprising and ambiguous. It gets darker, scarier and more captivating with each episode as Luther matches wits with killers and cops alike.
I'M A CELEBRITY, GET ME OUT OF HERE! - SEASON TEN
Pointless vacuous stuff that aims for the tabloid headlines every day at the expense of decency and restraint. I love it! All jokes aside, it's honestly the only reality TV show I can bare and although sometimes it can be gruesome - it is a nice show to watch with the family.
DANCING ON THE EDGE - SEASON ONE
It’s a lusciously shot and brilliantly written and acted account of how the British aristocracy and progressives in high society fell in love with what can best be described as the tantalizing edginess of jazz music and the sense of exploration and wonder it brought to those who heard it even though society at the time was not ready to accept what it all implied.
FAMILY GUY - SEASON TEN
Family Guy stands to become the best satire of all-American dysfunction next to The Simpsons. It's all raucous nonsense, but the debate will rage as to whether Family Guy contributes to, or merely reflects, the demise of civility. As with most TV fare, it's doing a little of both, and it's doing it with a sharp eye for detail.
