THE GIFT - SEASON ONE

The Gift's reveal isn't worthy of the apprehension it creates, which is chiefly down to three classy performances. Thriller fans may be reasonably sated but The Gift lacks distinct juju.

There is seemingly no better binge than a crime drama; high stakes, gruesome plot developments, and cracking the case all combine to make for a thrilling (and often addictively morbid) viewing experience.

MTV GHOSTED: LOVE GONE MISSING - SEASON ONE

My guilty pleasure: a weekly fix of trashy TV, whilst Catfish is on hiatus. Wouldn't recommend but also wouldn't miss.

PRISON BREAK - SEASON THREE

By this point the plot has dipped from daft to downright hilarious and while there's still fun to be had, any semblance of story has long since flown the coop.

Count Dracula and Bram Stoker deserved far better than this waste of potential that possessed so little ambition that one can't help but wonder why it was made in the first place other than to bank on a familiar IP that's in the public domain.

TRINKETS - SEASON ONE

As a story about three high-school girls who become unlikely friends, who are allies in a way that's both supportive and a little destructive, Trinkets is a solid teen show.

THE BOYS - SEASON ONE

The Boys is an expert deconstruction of superhero stories, with an appropriately wintery view of institutional power, be it corporate, governmental, religious, or caped. This ultra-violent dark satire flips the script on our preconceived idealistic notions of what a superhero show should be.

HIS DARK MATERIALS - SEASON ONE

His Dark Materials remains a world worth exploring, but whether you're comparing it to the source material or coming to it fresh, this series is weak tea. While the visuals did take you into a grand and glossy another world and the actors slid into their roles as evil aunties and absentee uncles with ease, it failed to be more than the superficial sum of its parts.
