VIEWPOINT - SEASON ONE
It’s human nature that is under scrutiny in Viewpoint, I find myself asking the “who done what ’n’ why”, and of course it’s great cast including Clarke making the show much more compelling.
UNFORGOTTEN - SEASON FOUR
What really impressed me was the discipline in the writing. Every action, every plot development and revelation felt organic, emerging inevitably from character and circumstance, not laziness or expedience. You get a more measured look at people; one that's more balanced and more varied. Its bleakness is tempered by hope.
THE PACT - SEASON ONE
It might not be the most original crime thriller in the world and there are times where it can perhaps seem a little too soapy for its own good, but at the end of each of the first two episodes I was immediately compelled to watch the next.
KIM'S CONVENIENCE - SEASON ONE
The show fulfills a much-needed gap in storytelling: immigrant family life that delivers laugh-out-loud moments without trying to prove that we're all one big happy family.
PURE - SEASON ONE
Pure is hilarious, messy fun based on the memoir by Rose Cartwright. It deals in extremes, but it is for anyone who at one time or another hasn't felt in control of their brain, and has experienced the awful fear, demoralisation, despair and loneliness that comes with it.
INVISIBLE CITY - SEASON ONE
The reminds me of the TV show Grimm. It has very similar premise. A procedural drama with a supernatural twist. It's fantasy-mystery introduces teens to Brazilian folklore.
TINY PRETTY THINGS - SEASON ONE
There is nothing frigid about Tiny Pretty Things, and while it's sure to not be everyone's cup of tea, if you're into the genre of messy teen drama during boring COVID then this is one you can't miss. Even with all its terrible acting and cliches, it's not great television, but it is a fun ride and you know what you're getting.
ONE PUNCH MAN - SEASON ONE
Presents comically exaggerated villains, idiotic and incompetent heroes, and an accidentally powerful protagonist whose thriftiness and deadpan humor make him (and this show) truly one of a kind.
LOVE, VICTOR - SEASON ONE
Although groundbreaking in and of itself in many ways, Victor's story is most special because of how normally the show treats it and its charismatic and adorable title character. There's just so much here to love.
OUTER BANKS - SEASON ONE
If everything about this show was just a little bit more engaging, or funnier, or more absurd, it would be actually fun to watch, but most of it is like "Bloodline" with training wheels, "Scooby Doo" with swearing. That said, it is actually very binge-able, mostly due to the constantly evolving plot... and COVID. Mostly COVID.
