2 Broke Girls

This is another sitcom with class and politics...I really will catch up on the girls. Their chemistry is addictive as they grow to really respect one another and grow by their partnership.

I am not a fan of sitcoms, but this one has class and style...as we watch the characters GROW and CHANGE and influence one another for the better. It is kind of a symbiosis of incredibly diverse people who are better for knowint one another...This is definitely one I will binge watch during the slow season to catch up.

BBC and PBS are well known for their renditions of classic English novels. This is one of the good ones to explain the conditions of working men and women and shows how much progress we have made, even though there is much to do yet. The characters have to be above reproach, or they meet an unsatisfying end in all the morality type stories.

The Colbert Report

Can hardly wait until Colbert starts Late Night on CBS. It will be so unusual to see the REAL Stephen as himself and not the tongue in cheek character from TCR. I miss all the little nuances that showed so clearly how crazy the extreme right hardliners are in this country.

It is refreshing to see women as the central cast of characters on any TV show. This one is well done with interesting characters and well acted. The lives are a bit upper class problems compared to most of our lives, but they are real people, with real problems. They just live in really nice houses and finding their next meal is not an issue.

This needs to go on a list of SHOWS THAT ENDED TOO SOON. The writing was excellent. Of course it helps that a person who considered himself Conservative can still be sane and not pander to the idea of AMERICAN EXEPTIONALISM and FUNDAMENTALIST religious nonscience. The ethics for our news programs seem to be slipping so far that the best news sources on TV today are on COMEDY CENTRAL, but this was another way to look back into the past and see some not quite current events after history has had a chance to form a more realistic opinion.

A great cast with a constantly twisting plot in a royal family. What could possibly go wrong? This parallel universe show told an intriguing story. It has been a while since I watched it, but it never disappointed.

Like Desperate Housewives, this drama focuses more on the lives of the women in the series than most shows, and that is a positive step (both for women to see they do not always have to be perfect, and for men to understand a little better than most, how women really do behave in stressful situations and in life in general)

The cliffhangers don't seem so fabricated because of the large cast, but they all fit together in the traditional Hollywood mansions (with an occasional look at how the other 99.9% live)

This new season seems that it might improve, but it was getting a bit past its prime. I love KB, but the women he seems to fall for are pretty interchangeable and don't really seem to be anything but a new target for the bad guys, so you don't want to get too attached to them.

I am behind on this season, but I always try to save a few of my favorites for the dull seasons around the holidays...and this one is definitely one of my faves. I already watched most of the UK version, and loved it, but this one is even better. I lived in the Chicago area years ago, and saw neighborhoods like this all around the UICC campus, but the real strength of the show is that they know their life is tough, and they really are SHAMELESS about what they have to do to get by...the cons and the outright fraud are just de rigeur for living poor in America. If you don't cut a few corners, you don't make it. It is expensive being poor!

Not since Roseanne has there been anything really close to working class families who have to struggle to make ends meet...Isn't it amazing how almost all the TV families live in four bedroom Georgian mansions?

The characters have grown up in the years that the series has been running, and DEBBIE is especially interesting to see as she grows, but the next to youngest is really a STRANGE KID, while LIP the oldest boy is finding a toehold in the upper class world at college, but doesn't forget his roots, and the oldest daughter somehow manages to keep from apologizing for her family situation even though she knows that it isn't okay to have to struggle so darn much all the time.
