He does have a way with very young girls, and older ones too. The setup for the drama of the season happens in episode one pretty clearly, and it could play out very well, the female lead and the trusty assistant are both stellar.

i am only giving it a 4.5 star rating because I know it is going to improve as it gets established. The format includes more music than many talk shows (it really is a VARIETY show) with political overtones. Colbert is his usual winsome charming self, with the sparkle in his eye.

He is settling in with some clever skits that permit big name stars to make in depth interviews with a light touch, and the music is great!

This could turn into one of my favorites, but not everyone loves political comedy as much as I do. The antithesis to Downton Abbey, this new world version of high society filled with despicable people who think only of their pleasures with no compunction to ignoring the servants (who are considered NOT THERE as would a slave) as they go about intimate engagements. FARCE to the max, but charming.

Worst finale EVER! It was a decent show, with room to grow the characters and the back stories if it hadn't been canceled and the lead transformed into SUPERGIRL. The chemistry was good even if it was a bit trite with some of the responses, but the finale was not well thought out.

Oh the beauty of House at his finest...finding out what people have in their houses that they won't admit to their doctors and badgering people to taking care of themselves.

Ripper Street

I have been watching Ripper Street for quite a while now, and find the flawed but honorable leader has an interesting back story that finally does get woven into the main plot each week...but the two sidekicks are awesome...they show antique CSI and back in the day police work in nonjudgmental ways, but very poignant.

I watched the show, but I also spent some time in the 80's at a Scientology "church." I realized then that L.Ron Hubbard's goal was to utilize the law to enhance his own fortune, but at some point he actually had a goal of doing some good for the planet...misguided in many ways, but good intentions. I have also seen firsthand the devastation that is caused when a friend was essentially excommunicated because he didn't have the money to pay for the outrageously priced books and courses and auditing. When the focus becomes BLACKMAILING HIGH PROFILE MEMBERS to ensure they support the group...things are going way wrong, and IMO that is certainly what happened to CRUISE and TRAVOLTA...they have SKELETONS that they cannot have divulged, so they continue to support a group whose only results are totally evil.

Scandal

Shonda has done it again...she has turned SCANDAL into a HOW TO MANUAL for a husband to take the role of a politician's wife. Fitz is actually supporting Mellie in totally insightful ways that make me love him again (after a long period of disgust)

EDIT: I am glad they are ending next season...it is great to see such FLAWED CHARACTERS up close and personal, but they are getting too close to jumping the shark with the plot lines.

Bones

Since the very beginning with the mole intern, this has been an interesting show for both the FORENSICS and the CHARACTERS of the scientists who show how much they love their work while solving crimes and building human relationships.

The contrast between Bones and Booth is so striking, but the trust they have built over the years seems to allow them to be different, but still honestly love one another. Bones is akin to SPOCK, while Booth is much like Capt. Kirk in temperament and personality.

I just couldn't get into the characters. Sometimes handsome white guys get BORING.
