Short-lived show that had a lot of promise. Future life with human type robots with feelings was interesting and quite well done. I liked the fact that one of the robots was black (with green eyes).
I am currently looking up every cast member in IMDB and finding that they all bring something special to the UKS lineup. There is something for everyone in this show from young, straight, white and rich to middle aged, gay, black and poor, to older, kookie and established actors. If you cannot find yourself in here somewhere, you aren't looking...oh did I forget DONG? I love the word play and the attraction they have with one another...and that they COMPLEMENT (not compliment) each other and make each other stronger.
Why do I find her point of view so bound up in ROMANCE? I really think that this is a comedy with characters who are actually growing, but question some of Jane's IDEALISM (especially when she projects her expectations on others), but all the characters do seem to take things in stride and learn from their experiences.
I also love the depiction of the Hispanic culture in a positive light and not all about ghettos and barrios.
I am not a big fan of comedies, but this one had CLASS, and treated the people like real humans, and even though the premise of the story is their BLACK SKIN, it is really more about permitting INTEGRITY and AWARENESS to replace PREJUDICE on both sides of the color lens.
When you contrast the Bobby Lee Miller / Lucy Liu version with the Cumberbatch / Bilbo Baggins version, it is like comparing apples and oranges...they are both great fruit, but totally different. Both Sherlocks have the requisite idiosyncrasies expressed in alternate ways. Both Watsons are true to the character, but with different lives and issues...and everything is awesome on both shows. Don't miss either of them.
EDIT** (Getting better and better...people are getting deeper and deeper and creepier and creepier. )A nice balance of similarities and differences in roles compared to the current English monarchy make this very safe to push boundaries without stepping on royal toes.
Much better acting and plot twists than I expected from a nightime soap opera. There are many characters that can be developed more fully and still stay real.
Every week I am given renewed hope that there are still some sane conservatives out there. While I don't agree with Tom Selleck on his political beliefs, his solutions are often elegant. The entire family has enough variety to show that people can disagree, but still respect one another. This one is a must watch for me, along with Scandal and Criminal Minds.
Not too far over the top, but it is supposed to be that way. Sorry this didn't get a longer run, but CHAOS was always reigning and tongues were always in cheeks. The lead character was a masterful casting job.
EDIT: I thought it might have improved over a few weeks, so I watched CROWD SOURCE, and was totally disappointed again...everything seemed so trite, and I thought Patricia Arquette was a good actress, but she doesn't GET IT for this character.
*****
So I watched episode two, because I couldn't locate episode one right away, but is it my imagination, or is this a not too good redo of CRIMINAL MINDS? I am sorry...James VDB is cliche, and Patricia Arquette hasn't developed any style at all. The fringe members are too intense and I will get one more attempt if I am bored, but this isn't a winner...and a waste of what could be a good cast.
I just watched the FINALE...good job by the writers to put a plot to the resolutions. Not too tidy, but just right.
Don't tell me what happens in the current season, but while I adore the idea that there are still teenagers like Jenna (but we all know that Jenna is really the girl that the writers WANTED to be able to be when the world dumped on them in high school) who have coherent thoughts and actually want to learn about life and love and relationships.
