MRS WILSON - SEASON ONE
A ripping adventure full of mystery, romance, danger, and close-to-the-bone performances.
THE CHAIR - SEASON ONE
It's a show with great intentions and plenty of potential, but it manages to fall short. The tension between delivering a warm and funny character study and telling a story about controversial current issues ultimately tears The Chair apart.
TRUE LIFE CRIME - SEASON ONE
True Life Crime follows journalist and MTV News host Linda Adey as she investigates crimes committed against young people, seeking to answer haunting questions and expose the truth. If you want to witness the in-depth investigations behind real-life mysteries, this is the show for you.
WANDAVISION - SEASON ONE
It's an entertaining but pointless confection.
VAMPIRES - SEASON ONE
The most interesting thing about it is seeing Emma Larsimon for a couple of moments, but no, this series isn't nearly as good as the latest Netflix horror series.
THE SECRET SHE KEEPS - SEASON ONE
Half your work is done and you are free to kick back and enjoy the non-plot elements. Not great but worth a watch!
HOLLYWOOD - SEASON ONE
Murphy and co-creator Ian Brennan's desire to have "the good guys" win in this fictionalized Hollywood is so at odds with what really happened that it goes beyond fantasy. At times, it feels like an impractical fable. But Netflix's "Hollywood" is also an ambitious, well-crafted attempt to take control of the narrative, creating a vision of classic Hollywood that modern audiences can watch with a lot less shame and anger.
BULLETPROOF - SEASON ONE
Most TV police shows seem to be in love with the “cold open”, where viewers witness a horrible crime and the lead characters enter the story only after the opening credits – usually in a swirl of yellow police tape, white forensic coveralls and pained expressions. However, Bulletproof bucks that trend. Ashley Walters and Noel Clarke are proper buddy-cop partners, their constant bickering just the inevitable bubbling over of a deep wellspring of bromantic love. It is exactly what we needed on British telly at the moment!
13 REASONS WHY - SEASON ONE AND TWO
13 Reasons Why, which follows the fallout after a student's suicide and then unravels the web that led her there, is an ambitious and uniquely sympathetic deep dive into the challenges of being in high school. In its examination of the ways we hurt each other, deliberately or casually, knowingly or otherwise, the adult edges to this story ring with honesty and truth. Because sometimes, the only way to feel something is for it to hurt.
13 REASONS WHY - SEASON THREE AND ONWARDS
13 Reasons Why tried to re-brand itself in its third season, but it's over the top and ridiculous. Every season, the number of women in the cast shrinks, and they're replaced with more tortured boys in increasingly (and unrealistic) violent situations. Every time this show almost does something good it just veers off for the lazy sophomoric treatise instead. It's exhausting and it's unpleasant and it's often dangerous, and at this point, there is no reason why it should still be around.
STARTUP - SEASON ONE
As the show focuses more on the strength of its breakneck storytelling, it's becoming not just the best reason to try on Netflix, but one of the more promising new streaming series of the year.
