GINNY AND GEORGIA - SEASON ONE

If the writers trimmed away one or two, the mother-daughter tension at its core could shine. But with so much of the unrealistic mess going on, that dynamic gets lost. I would say it's perfect background TV: familiar enough to be comforting, but with enough of its own weird energy to let Netflix's autoplay jump into the next episode.

CRIMINAL: UK - SEASON ONE

No firing guns, orchestrated special effects, fistfights or high-speed car chases. And yet it remains absolutely gripping.

BODYGUARD - SEASON ONE

What the series creators, fully consciously of it or not, do show is a country ruled by vehemently anti-democratic and authoritarian cliques, none of whom would exhibit the slightest qualms about establishing openly dictatorial rule.

WHITE HOUSE FARM - SEASON ONE

It is a measure of how riveting the drama is that you genuinely fear that will be that, case closed. Brilliant show.

SUPERSTORE - SEASON ONE

Haven't you always wondered what goes on behind those "Associates Only" signs in the big box stores? Evidently, it's a lot of funny stuff - Retail hell has never been so much fun.

BRIDGERTON - SEASON ONE

I was not madly in love with the show, but I was endlessly amused by it. Bridgerton is sexy enough to make Jane Austen blush. This definitely isn't Pride and Prejudice, it's very "Shonda Rhimes".

TRAVELERS - SEASON THREE

Season three of 'Travelers' is a win for sci-fi fans and fans of the series. Unlike other shows, this season wraps up or cuts all of the loose ends of the story. What we get this year from the show is the best example of what a television series should be. It's not a 13-episode movie. It's not long-form literature. It's a TV show. A TV show with chapters that begin and end within their run time.

FATE: THE WINX SAGA - SEASON ONE

I think in general this story had a lot of potential but it just really fell flat... I had a hard time really connecting to any of these characters. If you're not rooting for your protagonist then half your battle's already lost. Sorry, Winx Saga, but you're fated to my 'one and done' list.

RIVERDALE - SEASON TWO

Season One was a smart teen drama that manages to tackle current social issues while simultaneously weaving in a pretty creepy mystery.

Season Two, however, has become unbalanced. Hormones taking over as melodrama masquerades as intrigue. It was everything we've come to expect from Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The narrative between the two leads (Betty and Veronica) fits neatly into: You're either the Madonna or the whore. Maleficent or Princess Aurora. Sandy or Rizzo. We've got two choices, ladies, and both are reductive.

TRUE BEAUTY - SEASON ONE, EP ONE

True Beauty is a nice “Slice of Life” webtoon comic. The Protagonist is someone many women can relate to. The art is lovely, and very well drawn. The story has twists and turns that keep you wanting to read more. So, I was extremely excited to see where they went with this K-Drama. The first episode differed a lot from the comic but I was pleasantly surprised, it translated onto screen really well.
