Black Mirror

Focusing on thought provocation rather than actual scares, this clever series is entertaining and well executed. The premises for each episode alone are intelligent and eerie. The series doesn't shy away from ironic endings, which only add to the suspenseful mood. This is a well done television series that I look forward to watching.

Top of the Lake

Exploring a very dark and complicated case, Top of the Lake explores several taboo situations that only make the town in it more and more interesting. With Elizabeth Moss as the lead character, this mystery drama is extremely powerful.

This show is the whole reason why the world worships Tina Fey as a comedy writer. It's hilarious, well timed, very well acted, and is the kind of show anyone can love. The cast chemistry is one of a kind.

The monster-of-the-week show to start them all. Buffy the Vampire Slayer jump started the horror genre. Along with that Whedonesque quirkiness and charm, Buffy is filled with dramatic, and sometimes heart wrenching, moments that only make the show even better.

House

I was first introduced to the show thanks to my AP Psychology teacher and I'm so glad she did. Its characters' amazing amount of depth and fantastic story lines chaotically intertwine as they manipulate, betray, love, and learn from each other. House's medical cases are always interesting and there is rarely a dull moment when new symptoms arise. This show is simply infectious.

UnREAL

UnREAL's cynical behind the scene look at the making of reality shows not only demonstrates criticizes what shows want out of contestants, but what audiences at home are wanting out of a show. So yes, the people behind the show within a show are there to make fun of you too.

Vixen

A fine attempt at bringing Vixen onto the CW, but until there's a live-action version of her Vixen will always be the bastard child of the Arrowverse. Neglected and barely given enough time to develop exciting episodes, the short episode time will annoy more than excite. The Arrowverse's portrayal of Vixen is beyond interesting. In fact, it's shocking that Vixen hasn't been featured on either Arrow or The Flash.

Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul brings back the trademark dark sense of humor we saw during Breaking Bad and, unlike a lot of spin-offs, isn't trying to become entirely independent from its source material but rather tell it from a different perspective. Better Call Saul is a very, very good show.

Scorpion

Scorpion is just as ridiculous as you think it would be. It's a "high-octane" drama that runs very, very low on brain fuel. If you copy-pasted the characters of The Big Bang Theory into an action series, this would be the result.

Red Band Society

Another feel-good drama that's a little too corny for its own good. Heartfelt and sentimental, this rehash of Fault in Our Stars and Breakfast Club takes kids from several backgrounds who are forced to cope with their medical conditions and learn to support each other. However, some of the kids' dialogue and behaviors don't feel right or realistic.
